Although I have traveled a lot of times between Mumbai and Pune, I never have done so by this train. It seems that this is the best train among the lot w.r.t. speed. Many a times, these trains are slowed down by the EMUs that run on Mumbai Karjat and Pune Lonavala section. I wished there were separate tracks for the EMUs all the way till Karjat and Kasara atleast from the Mumbai side so that trains towards Pune and Nashik run uninterrupted taking only scheduled halts.
@soshmed1943 Hey...I agree. But we will have to wait atleast another generation. Apathy of Indian government towards basic infrastructure is not helping. Regardless, I like Indian trains for their rustic ness...not all things have to move with time. And trains in India cannot go any cheaper than now. Also, Acela/Amtrac etc are not fully occupied and are too space consuming for country like India. Hence, any minor development is a welcome thing on IR...Not criticizing anyone..juat keeping it real
I know india doesn't seem to enforce railway tresspassing laws, and the doors are kept open while the train is moving.

Neral - Bhivpuri Road section rocks with scenery and speed too. Great video Omkar. Intercity rocks in CST - Pune section.
