However, that NYE show has basically become a time to honor Dick Clark. He deserves it & should continue doing it as long as he wants & regardless of what others think.

I get what you're saying, but I'd say it's a situation that's different for each individual person. I'm sure there have been bits and jokes on the show you've laughed at over the years that if they were directly about you, or a situation you were closer to, you wouldn't find it funny. It's all about personal taste. SFN went after more than just Howard and Beth, I think he finally had enough of his entire staff/family being targets. For what it's worth.
