@sillychicken599 so you have completely formated and wiped clean that hard drive.and all it's pre set partitions (from when the emachines people set them up to install vista and the recovery parition) and did a CLEAN " custom" install of win 7 *nothing else special* on that same computer..to test whether or not win 7 is slower than vista? AH..YEAH..BULLSHIT...win 7 actually LIKE XP runs the SAME TASKS same dependability same speed as xp versus vista using LESS resources. you're welcome.
@chronofusion Yea dude i did completely wipe the system and did clean installs of both operating systems (xp came with it). I wanted to play around with these operating systems to see which one is fastest. In my particular experience Vista seemed a lot snappier than 7. As I said the netbook came with XP so I wiped it and install Vista Ultimate and 7 Ultimate. None of the operating systems had all the bloat ware that eMachines puts on their systems. Please think before you speak.
@sillychicken599 actually ya need to stop bullshitting yourself and TRYING to bullshit me..You're the one that needs to think before you speak. You apparently NEGLECTED to mention whether or you installed BOTH o.s.'s as a dual boot into the same storage drive. THIS IS ONE of the few stipulations that MAKES A DIFFERENCE in how ACCURATE you can see the difference in performance overall between the two o.s. Dont try to insult my intelligence. 10 yr gaming pc builder with over 40 completed.
@sillychicken599 so bottom line...believe whatever that dee dee deeeee world of yours tells you to believe. I know FROM EXPERIENCE of EXACT EQUAL HARDWARE SPECS of two exaclty equal computers...only difference. one had vista ultimate x64 the other has win 7 ultimate x64 in EVERY task (except running dskchk in cmd prompt) THE WIN 7 MACHINE COMPLETED the task QUICKER whether by a small margin or a big one. YA LOST...GET OVER. MOVE ON. THE END. DONE. YOU'RE WELCOME. Next time dont be a dick
@chronofusion That is YOUR experience on YOUR hardware. Not MY experience on MY hardware. I am not the one being a dick. Not to sound like a first grader but you started this. I have a HP 110 with Windows 7 (I'm using it right now XD) it was only $250 and it is super fast. It is HD, and very bright. I even use After Effects, and it works great, I love my HP 110!!! :D
I'm looking for a netbook that will last a few years that is able to be upgraded as fast as technology moves forward. It would be nice to have it last for 3 to 4 years without running out of memory.
If i have a G router and get this it will be fine but if i had an N router would it be bad like is the wifi card going to go out of date soon because if so i dont want to go buy a big sticking out USB N Wifi adapter :(
A wireless G adapter is compatible with an N router, with the limit of only going 54 MBPS when N can go much faster. By the way, an N card would not be any bigger if you found the right one....
i seroiusly don't think that's a mistake, its a purposeful area, all HP laptops that i've seen have the same here, it makes it easy to find the ctrl button if you copy and paste with the keyboard shortcuts.
If anyone enjoys tech based videos with a whole bunch of comedy thrown in between, then you should check out my channel, and if you want a chance to win an iTunes giftcard just subscribe and once I reach 100 join the live stream!
Unfortunately I must disagree with your analysis of the keyboard FCN, CTRL, WIN, ALT order. I believe that CTRL should come first as it does cause problems for those of us that are used to desktop keyboards (and have learned to type on them) and for those of us that use our laptops/netbooks for gaming purposes. The MSI wind has the fcn in the corner and I can see that as the only reason why I would ever return the netbook. Could it be that you are more used to the Mac order of the keys?
I'm not calling you a super nerd cos you have a pretty epic setup at the back but the fact that you have a laptop with a picture of you on the lid LOL super awesome dude!

keys are fine, The keyboard hitting the LCD when closed not fine. Keyboard Wavy not True flat. Battery on bottom "NO 9 cells for the MINI" Cheap feeling Mouse buttons I could go on.. The Asus machines feel solid. Yep I own a HP MINI that Im Not real happy with.
wait, so my Sony VGN-CS215J Viao, made a mistake of putting "CTRL" "FN" "WINDOWS BUTTON" AND "ALT", wait, let me look at my ACER mini, oh what do you know, same as Sony and HP. I think you were mistaken about the CTRL FN being switched. I think you're speaksing of ASUS EEEEEEEEerrrk
you are telling us that it's a big mistake of putting the function key between ctrl and windows logo but i think the contrary. My brother has a Gateway laptop where the function key is at the left of the control key and, because i am writing without looking at my keyboard, i am always pressing "fn" when i want to press control and this annoye me so much. so it depends for the type of user. It's not a mistake, it's only the fact that you don't like the fact the buttons are posponed.
17" is laptop! This guy is WHACK!!! Incomplete review. Didn't even mention about the screen gloss. Engeneering mistake? Come on dude. Thats why you're in YouTube pretending to be a "big shot host." The guy who design this is a REAL engeneer not pretending.
I have a dell inspiron mini 9, with intel atom proccessor, and im in the process of getting xp on it, bc ubuntu crashed! And i love it, could use a disk drive and a lil bigger keyboard! They also put some keys in the wrong spot!
What are you talking about retard!!! The keyboard design is just fine!!! Look at any keyboard it goes from Ctrl, Fn, Win and Alt. Your not an engineer.
I've always used control/function/windows alt (most of the laptop keyboards I've used were mapped like that) and the acer aspire one has that similar trackpad. However, I do agree that the price is way too high compared to other netbooks...
Actually, about the Function and Control Key placement. I think that the way HP did it is better because when I first got my laptop (which had the Function Key the way you liked, Bottom Left Key) I kept hitting the Fn Key when I actually ment to hit the Ctrl key because I'm used to that key being the bottom left key on the keyboard.
in his home office i believe he has 3 netbooks (eee pc, hp mini, and the msi wind), a 24 inch imac, mac mini, mac pro, hp touchsmart pc, and a macbook pro. and i think thats it in his office he has various computers through out his home
Hmm, Chris, Ctrl > Fn > Windows > Alt is the standard. That's how all the keyboard layouts are done on laptops that are available here. The same goes for other countries.
In fact, Fn > Ctrl > Windows > Alt would be a mistake.
I bought the same netbook for my dad.. It is great, the keyboard is big and easy to type and the screen is really bright!! The only things i dislike is the mouse buttons on the sides of the trackpad and the scrolling part of the trackpad. Its a small trackpad and my finger always goes over the right side where you can scroll up and down a page. Its annoying when you have to find where you are again. Thats why i use a bluetooth travel mouse :).....Other than that it looks really styley!!!
These "netbooks" are the realization that has been a LONG time in the making. But, I think these companies are leaving a VERY valuable feature behind with their newer designs. That feature is the SOLID STATE DRIVES that Asus began their netbook line using. Of course - the spining disk is cheaper for more storage space. But with a device such as these "ultra-portables", portability is the key word. With enough shaking, spinning drives crash - but SSDs are solid state so they are more durable.
Why would Ponzi want one of these when she already has the Macbook Air? Oh, that's right "you can never have too many computers" that house must be loaded with them.
Funny of him mentioning that the Keys (Ctrl/Fn/Windows/Atl) are placed wrong. Almost every laptop I've used has the keys in that way (Dell Laptops, Compaq, HP, Asus Aspire 1).
So I really don't understand why he says that the keys are placed wrong. I've been using laptops for 7 yrs now, and almost everyone of them has that deault configuration of the keys.
its a great computer and looks nice and feels soo nice to type on but they really failed with the low 60gb Hard Drive I mean come on my Acer Aspire one has 120GB!!
thats the layout for all notebooks or at least all the ones i have i have a really old one and the layout is the same and the one i have now is the same also then again it's HP also
sorry chris but i don't think that key thing is a big issue and i don't think it's a big misstake because i have a dell inspiron 1505 and that's how my keys are ..in fact i think that is a laptop style keyboard but i'll just need to do more looking at that
You cant dude,i have two 20inch monitors which have a small pixel on and after sending them back to aoc they new ones they sent well refurbished units still had the pixel on,so my guess is you either have an old or rubbish make monitor!
my keys are like that and im using a dell e5500 lattitude lol not hp so it isnt a engeneering fault check out my set up i recently got it finished so decided to make a vid guys check it out
how is that a "netbook?" my desktop (using now) has a 1.8GHz P4, 1GB RAM, onboard video, 80 GB and I use it for a lot more than web browsing! oeioke are too used to speed that tey DONT NEED. I program, use AutoCAD/Adobe CS products, Run Office 2007, the whole nine yards just fine!
compared to other cpu's today. Most are above 2GHz. Depends what you do i doubt that you can run hardcore photoshop on urs and dont say you can because i lag on my 2.4GHz running photoshop. So its just what you need, and comparing it to today
You know Chris. You are most likely going to say to me. Gee, your an ideot.. But, I need to say it! I couldn't stand carrying a Windows computer in my computer bag. The amount of trouble Windows gave me is unforgettable. Mac is my best friend. You shouldn't betray best friends!!! lol
My Sony Vaio SZ120 (2 years old) has Ctrl-FN-Windows-Alt in the lower left hand corner so I would say it's typical for sub notebooks/netbooks and not an engineering mistake.
lol. im sorry i let anything go in my ass..that's EXIT only. and apparenlty you dont know how to read. " hooked on phonics..WORKS...FUCKtard. game over. you lose. get over it..the end. done.

The MSI Wind is currently the fastest netbook, if you overclock the processor by pressing Fn+F10, you get 2 GHz out of the processor.
You can also add an extra gig of RAM, making it the fastest netbook on the market, and for 250 bucks, it's a steal.

I forgot to throw in that my laptop is ctrl, Fn, Windows, Alt
Maybe at one time that wasn't the standard though?
kingmedabe 3 years ago
Funny of him mentioning that the Keys (Ctrl/Fn/Windows/Atl) are placed wrong. Almost every laptop I've used has the keys in that way (Dell Laptops, Compaq, HP, Asus Aspire 1).
So I really don't understand why he says that the keys are placed wrong. I've been using laptops for 7 yrs now, and almost everyone of them has that deault configuration of the keys.

ERROR??? I have a top notch acer computer and have my function key between the Ctrl and the windows key!!!!!!!!!!!!
jebbadiah 3 years ago
The Toshiba laptops our school uses does that with the FN key too. They've given us ultra portables. With a HUGE CTRL key and a stupid small FN key.

it is also over priced and lacks ports that cheaper ones have

yeah the trackpad on/off function is nice, my bro has it on his HP laptop
PrekeshC 3 years ago
My laptop has CTRL fn Windows Alt and I think it's much better like that. I would be the opposite, always hitting fn by accident instead of CTRL.

Fullmetalliod 3 years ago
sorry chris but i don't think that key thing is a big issue and i don't think it's a big misstake because i have a dell inspiron 1505 and that's how my keys are ..in fact i think that is a laptop style keyboard but i'll just need to do more looking at that

compared to other cpu's today.
