I give a shit whether a tenor sings the high f or not. This aria is so great and demanding of any tenor or soprano and it must not be reduced to a stupidity of Bellini...
This is better than any Florez performance. Kunde's voice is much better for Bellini, heavier, richer, easier to color and shade. In comparison Florez seems all one color and thin. Bellini is NOT for Florez.
Bellissima interpretazione Kunde, Bravo!
@LordMoe9 ..Sorry dear but before asserting anything, make sure of yourself. Bellini wrote this role specially for Giovanni Battista Rubini famous for his top notes, and the original score contains actually an optional high F. Here Kunde sings the regular high D.
Whos does or who did the F in a live performance ??? No one ... may be Lauri-Volpi , but I am too young ... and there are no recording of that.
....................................
L'ho sentito fare Kunde anni fa a San Francisco.
Pavarotti hit it with falsetto. He's my favorite singer, but he couldn't sing an F. He had a great High D at the height of his career when he played the Duke in "Rigoletto"
I think it doesn't matter. There are so many tenor don't have High F ,but they are stiil their fans' hero.......Pavarotti's name will be remembered by every one who loves classical music,he is one of the great tenors of this century foever.
nice light tenor voice. I might actually prefer the high D. The high F is kind of...pushing it. It just doesn't sound like a man should go that high imo.
He may just be tired of doing it, it has to put a strain on the voice no matter how good the technique may be. Hey, he still sounds great and nobody else is singing the F, but of course it would have been great to hear it.
He doesn't have a top F, so bravo for not trying!

LucasFerreiraRhoads 2 years ago
o Fá é opcional, o escrito é um Ré
Zangetsu333 2 years ago
" bravo amigo! Agora vc terá de fazê-la sempre"
hehe
é a vida.

SonoPortoricano 3 years ago
Io credo sia un tenore lirico-leggero. I tenori possono essere: Leggero, Lirico-Leggero, Lirico, Lirico-Spinto, Drammatico.

who cares about no F? seriously, the F was overdoing it anyway and was just for show. The C# is much better sounding anyway.

who the hell cares if there's no F?he's so much powerful that he donesn't need that. the Db is working as well

It is true that Pavarotti's high F is in falsetto. But what I care is how it sounds to my ear, how well it rings etc...I just like it.
TheInquisitive 4 years ago
he sang the Db instead.

two of the greatest opera singers here. i first saw luciana serra as the queen of the night when she was at the metropolitan opera.

Check Pavarotti hitting the F5 with utmost ease...it's a short clip. Kunde's performance in comparison sounds rather pedestrian.
