The good old Bloomfield crossing. There's always a few every year. Gives the locals a laugh every time, but seriously, that was just plain stupid. You people standing around should have known better. Used to be a marker painted white and if you couldn't see it you just waited until you could to cross.
we did the bloomfield track a few years back, the crossing (here) we crossed with a little less flow, it was awesome, driving sideways to go straight,, there are castle-ated curbs to stop you dropping over, but that flow was too fast. the whole day driving (through many creeks/hills/swamps/forest was one of my most memorable days ever. just the two of us, tourists, etc. as we approached cooktown, at dusk, there were huge cane stubble burning fires everwhere, and thousands of toads on the roads!
Wow..... someone should have offered them some advice before they launched into the obvious, Classic :-)
