  • When i look at this, i receive no sound. Do i have to sign up for sound? Help me out. Thank you. , Coffee cup.

  • I actually had one of these, used the shit outta it...Went thru "Goop" like tap water...

  • WTF they have been around for this long? lol

  • We were a lot more easily entertained back then. And it didn't cost our parents $1000 to make us happy at Christmas. Parents today = SUCKERS!

  • Old toys were the best! It makes me feel proud to be alive!

Today's toys are all about: carbon neutral, political correctness, fire-retardant, non-toxic, lead-free, educationally BORING!!!!...

Even wood toys are taking the hit because they can splinter... WTF no shit!!! They're made of wood dammit!!!

  • Remember the wood-burning kits?

  • They stunk almost as bad as your burning skin did, when you tried to remove it from the mold too soon!!

What were parents thinking back then??? But they were big fun!

  • "thing" maker?

  • I had creeple people and I used my vacuum form's heating unit for it, it was the same unit as the thingmaker. Decades later I found the molds for the Fright Factory in a bag of stuff my mom never threw out! And the vaccu form was there too. Had to hunt to find something like plastigoop, but I did lo, the unit still worked. Made a skeleton just for old times sake. I loved those mattell toys. They're swell!

  • ah yes the burns do you remember kooky cakes they were good

  • Is that Vincent Price doing the voiceover?

  • I remember this toy, too – and yes, can't you SMELL the goop cooking as you watch the commercial?. My brother had the Creepy Crawlers and I got the Fun Flowers. Absolutely loved it! Watching this b&w commercial totally took me back to the multicolored flowers and other goodies we made ... I am thinking it was around 1967 .... Had tons of Goop in a variety of colors, bought extras for Creeple People (remember the paper dresses to cut out + put on a pencil with the Creeple People heads?

  • Anyone else get the feeling that toy makers were trying to kill us? Stuff that had to be plugged in, stuff that got red hot, as someone mentioned, toxic chemical goop..... Jeez.. Its a wonder we survived childhood.

  • I had the edible plasti-goop too. ICK! But apparently memorable! Do you remember the Vaccu-Form?

  • Time Warp! I remember the commercial! Then they came out with those that one could eat!

  • Nothing like getting your own open face, high temp, polymer molding device you handle with your bare hands. Thanks mom and dad!

  • "You got bugs".

  • dam I used too burn me hand on this ...mame your kid,, all good fun,, what were they thinking. lol

  • I used to have one of thease things and it was fun BUT dont go out and play wile there cooking because they would burn and smoke up the house big time and the plate would get real hot ,,i dont think they would sell thease things today

  • i might be wrong, but wasn't there a version of this where the bugs, etc. were edible??

  • @rickobear64 I think they were called "Incredible Edibles."

  • @ignoblius ahhhhh!!! that's right!!! ;)

  • @rickobear64 Yes, I had one as a kid. The finished product tasted gnarly.

  • Watching this, I can almost remember what the hot plastic smelled like.

  • @ignoblius me, too!!!! ;) my brother had one!

  • Had one when I was a kid! Great memories!!!

  • and then they let the license get away

  • Narrated by Paul Frees?

  • My dad brought me one of these. Absolutely loved it. My mom never could figure out my fascination with it. Bugs, but they felt so cool after they came out of that hot mold!

  • 1960's, really? I wasn't born till 89 and I remember this somehow...

  • @BoredChick yep and they are around today oddly enugh...

  • This would never fly today-all the warning labels would catch fire and burn the house down.

  • Yeah, fun my favorite .....

  • i loved these toys. you could actually burn and electrecute yourself. those were real toys

  • Toxic plastic...flaming hot molds. I guess there were no corporate attorneys in those days to suggest this wasn't a great idea for 8 year olds? Still it was one great toy!!

  • @RichYan33 : Best use for liability attorneys: chop them up, pour them into flaming hot molds, and turn THEM into creepy crawlers!!

    (make that- "CREEPIER crawlers"!!)

  • Anybody else ever have Vacu-Form? Heat the thin plastic sheets over the hot plate and hurry and flip them over and pump the hell out of the lever to shape your two-piece boats?

  • I did . Great toy. But I did give myself a couple of quick burns. You can understand why that sort of toy will never be made again. I took that early enthusiasm for that toy and do a little silicone mold making / resin casting occasionally.

  • luv it!

  • We've all probably split about 50 of our chromosones playing with the plastic goop that came with this toy.

  • I definitely remember the blistered fingers, but they really were cool. My brother had the Thingmaker with the bugs, and my cousin had the flowers and butterflys. We also had an Incredible Edibles. Mmmmm. The 60's!

  • My brother had this, along with that foul-smelling stuff that came in a tube, where you gobbed it up on the end of a straw and blew it into balls, or balloons, or something that still smelled bad but was fun to play with.

  • I also had one of these setups, and they had glow-in-the-dark plastic available, as well as the edible kind..."Super-Elastic Bubble Plastic" is the other toy you're recalling; I had this also; one could make these sort of flaccid "balloons" out of whatever sort of plastic-stuff they used...

  • Super Elastic Bubble Plastic, that's it! Thanks. That stuff sure did smell bad.

  • That's back when toys were made to toughen up kids. That think heated up to about 400 degrees. :)

  • This was one of the greatest toys. It paid for itself after seeing my big sister being scared out of her wits seeing the little snake you could make with this thing in front of the bathroom one day.

  • The third-degree burns, the electrocuion ... ahhh, those were the days.

  • Can you imagine the lawsuits that would be flying if this kind of toy were sold today! That is, if the Toy Police would allow it to even hit the shelves. Somehow, OUR generation survived these perilously dangerous toys without the government protecting us from them....

  • umm yea these are still being made i have one in my closet from either 2000-2003 they just changed the model

  • Comment removed

  • I had this and the Incredible Edible Machine. God it tasted so nasty but we made them and ate them!!

  • Toys were better when they were dangerous, toxic, and smelly...

  • I totally remember this product; it was soooooo cool.

  • wow...i remember this...i think i was a just a gleam in my dads eye when this was out..ok...ok...maybe i was older..damn im old..lol

  • Good God! I had this....and I could make the Peanuts characters with it!!! The goop came in containers that looked like Elmer's glue, yes? Wow, I haven't thought of this in YEARS!!!

  • I totally remember this commercial. Wow, to be nine years old, again...Thanks youtube!

  • I loved how the goop smelled as it was cooking in the little molds. And I used to chew on the toys because they kinda tasted good. Yeah. Wierd.

Maybe some strange, incurable cancer is in my future?

  • You ate the stuff too? (so did I) It DID smell good.....

  • My cousin's mother worked for Mattel and I ahd several of these kits, creepy crawlers, creeple peeple, fun flowers and picadoos. I played withthis for hours on end and actually burned a few thingmakers out. I had a blast even though I got quite a few burns on my hands. I guess it was the price for having a good time.

Imagine today's parents letting their kits use a hot burner that needed to be plugged in and having a water tray nearby!

  • Actually the little electric hot plate was pretty safe, at least for shock hazard. I put water in my mold tray (the black top of the hot plate) and liked to watch the water sizzle around. It was stinkin' hot!

  • OMG I loved this back in the 60's. I got burned on it a lot..LOL

  • The plastigoop didn't last very long though. It came in 2 sizes-about $1.25 and about $2.50. That was a ton of money for a little kid in the early 60's. Why is it parents would buy the toy, then cheap out on batteries (or plastigoop) and you couldn't use the thing any more?

  • oh my god, i didnt know they was around in the 60s!! i thought it was just a 90s thing, wow learn something new everyday huh lol

  • You can tell it's Mattel, It's Swell
