I'll have to agree on the loading screens and bugs. But really the bugs are just bad scripting. The AI is complete shit in both ARMA 1 and 2. Even with my Teams skill on expert and the enemy on novice, my team never lasts for shit, leaving me on my own or with a wounded teammate. Also the stealth system is quite busted. As for performance and everything, it was a killer in 2007, but Arma II over stepped that and requires some serious power to run. I think the game just isn't you guys' style.

So anyway, I bought ArmA ages ago. I read the manual. It looks like flashpoint so I am happy with that, but I never got around to installing it. I am about to but I see there is an expansion called Queens Gambit. Is it worth getting and what does it add to the game... just missions or also weapons& vehicles too? review?
hey, im one of the review guys, in the review this was queens gambit, it is worth installing as it gives you more missions and a few new weapons but not much new it just adds gameplay to the origional. i havent played flashpoint though is it any good?
Thanks for reply. Flashpoint is essentially the first version of arma, but then the software company split into 2. One made arma (& arma2) while the other half made flashpoint2. Operation Flashpoin1 is almost identical to Arma. If you buy it, ensure you get the resistance add-on so that you can ride motorbikes & use pistols. It is full of bugs but loved for its crazy mods which all work in WinXP but not all work on Vista. Mods include things like giant robots & terminators on jetpacks. V funny.
Definitely edit out some of the loading (easily in Windows Movie, free from microsoft). Google "Live Essentials" or get at:

Dude, there is something called multiplayer. Yes, the campaign and singleplayer is absolutely shit, but when you play it right in multiplayer it's absolutely amazing. This game is good... Only problem being you need a fucking super computer to run it. I brought this game the otherday and was disapointed. Mainly due to shit controls (of which are a nightmare to change) and because i cannot run it on full graphics the amount of graphical bugs is diabolical
ArmA definatly ain't good for most people but for those who want a simulation its as real as you likely to get. It is buggy but the patch removes almost all the problems.
The best part of ARMA is the editor and the modding community. You go to any ARMA mod website and there are tons of mods for it including my British Units (Brit Units by STALKERGB FTW!). I explained about the loading times on the other version of this video you have but it is nothing to do with level size, if the training mission is the first thing you load up it will take just as long as the sniper mission first time.

This game works fine on vista, you do need a powerful computer. My specs are CPU 3.0ghz, GPU 8800GT, 800Mhz ram x4G and it runs just fine.
I think you need to learn how to play this game before you can have a real review on it too. Its a real sized simulator not a crap game like BF2 or Cod4 which use small maps, arma uses a massive map about 400sqm, real sized vehicles etc. I wouldnt play anything else.
I have the same Vista, it works just fine no probs. Make sure your game is patched to 1.14 which is the lastest version. Im not sure what version you have in the states, but in Australia it starts at the 1.05 patched version.
