Dan came to Cape Girardeau in 1986 and hired Ron Duff Video Prod to film a video. The concert was filmed at Academic Hall and was open to the locals. The place was packed and the music was unbeleivable. Dan sung all his hits and had the crowd on their feet tne entire night. A memorable experience. My prayers to Dans family. Rest in Peace Dan.

I just read that Dan died, yet I feel that his life and his music and his Love for Jesus and God are what is most important. Each man who lives will die but those who choose to have faith in the Lord will Live forever. Dan knew that simple fact, as he said here, that one day all the other things in this world drugs, sex, rock and roll, money, fame, ect will leave you empty and still searching for peace and meaning for your life. I am not here to preach, the choice is your's. Peace.

Who is this old man? This is not Dan Peek.. Dan has dark brown hair .He is the singer on their current hit "Jet Boy Blue". Dan is about 30 years old. i just saw them last night in New york. This old guy looks like he's 60.

Wow I own Dan Peeks book that he wrote he even signed it and gave me a Guitar pick with his name on it and a Picture of himself that was autographed with a Message too and a Copy of America's History Greatest Hits Album

A top 10 reason why I love this site. Through cartoon memories of yesteryear & other things loved, THIS was what I've been searching for all these years. Dan himself, explaining in voice. Outside of musical recordings I've never heard an interveiw w/ him. But through it all he says what he's BEEN doing. I'm w/ the others when hopes about a reunion is dreamt. Dewey & Gerry are nothing shy of professionals & Dan seems rehabed. The 3 of them could do a back to 70's show w/ Willie on congo's~pray;)

This is great! I respect Dan for finding his inner light and God. I've been a fan of America since it started, and I was so sorry to see Dan leave the group. The "trio era" still remains as their most definitive and significant years. I once pined for a reunion, but that will probably never happen, I am happy to play their rich music legacy whenever I want a reunion. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for this interview. I remember hearing about others like Darryl Hall and Sting going to the Bahamas to get away from the music biz or other stress - some recorded at Air Records in Montserrat. I tried to get into that place, but one needs an appointment and it is in bad shape.

Dan, Positive music never has to "chant" that's it's from God to be from God and what you had in the band you were once in, was a UNIQUE blend that touched many of us in a positive way. It's sad if you feel you had to walk away from it because of issues of addictions or that you didn't equate what you played back then as having a spiritual and mystical power because guess what, it did... In a fine deep way. Anyway, Thanks for that brief time of spell binding music and stay well.
