  • The only ppl who are making a fuss about all this are the gays. Nobody else gives a rip. Who cares? Obama should have the right to choose whom he wants to speak at his inauguration without gays delegating it. He's working from the center ppl. Can't you see that? Trying to bring us all together? Hello. That's what his whole campaign was about.

  • I worked on the Obama campaign in Roanoke, VA and now I'm sorry I did. In 2012 when he comes up for re-election, when the campaign office calls me again to work, I'm going to hang up the phone. Obama has lost my vote in 2012.

  • I voted for you, but I'm pissed at you now Barack! This isn't just an a matter of opinion. He is a bigot. Would you allow a KKK member to speak at your inauguration? I wish you didn't get my hopes up with your message of change. I guess I can expect to be a second-class citizen for another 4 years. I am so disappointed.

  • I was a Hillary supporter, but decided to support Obama, even gave money to his campaign for the first time ever, because the alternatives were much more scary. But what can we as Gay americans expect from him when in fact it was his fellow african americans, the very people that should understand the most what it is like to be discriminated against, who turned out and voted in droves to deny us our rights. Rick Warren is just the icing on the cake. Sound cynical and bitter? I am!

  • Fuck Obama and fuck Rick Warren, Ron Paul for the mother fucking win~!!!

  • While I find it a little disturbing that Obama would invite someone like Rick Warren to speak, I think we really all need to step back and realize that what Obama says is true. Being so selective as to pick out people with exclusively liberal views would make him exactly like Bush with his choice of people with exclusively conservative views. Also, those calling for inviting KKK members seem to forget that most likely none of them would come even if asked. Think about it!

  • I admire his bi-partisian efforts and i hope he continues to be open to everyone while still keeping his basic liberal ideals for this country in tact.

He said though, he is "a fierce advocate for equality for gay and lesbian americans" yet he's not for gay marriage! He's for civil unions, which is not equality. Equality means THE SAME. A civil union does not give all of the rights a marriage does and does not share a definition with a marriage. I can't believe i'm angry at Obama.

  • How disappointing. GLBT Americans are the first to get thrown under the Obama administration's bus.

  • If your goal is to hear every voice, why not invite a member of a white supremacy group to speak as well. I don't agree with them either, but if I have to swallow listening to someone who wants to take away my civil rights for who I am, then shouldn't we be fair about this? There are plenty of groups not represented, such as anti-Semites etc. Why should gay and lesbians be the last group it's okay to disrespect?

  • It's not longer socially acceptable to say you support gay rights when you don't support gay marriage. Sorry Obama, you can't have it both ways.

  • i hate this guy so much....

  • If other liberals are included then I see little wrong with this picture. He has said all along that he wants to include EVERYONE, once you start hand picking who everyone is, you become THEM. As long as the other side does not result to obvious crimes then I see no reason as to why they cannot be apart of the big picture. If Obama starts supporting anti-gay laws and policies THEN point the finger, not when he's trying to keep his word by including EVERYONE. 4 true = you must be openminded!

  • If he is really in support of gay people, why are there no gay cabinet members in his administration???

I'm shocked at Obama's decision to have this bigot speak.

  • I guess he should have the KKK there as well.

  • Well, they did endorse him. They gave like 4,000 dollars to his campaign.

  • There are a zillion other religious leaders who don't equate homosexuality to incest, child molestation, etc. I've supported him strongly, but this stinks of him throwing gay people under the bus before he's even in office.

  • Well, Omama is pathetic! Why didn't he also invite some racist preacher so that all points of view could be represented?

  • For the sake of inclusiveness I want to see rev Wright there as well.

  • whos that creepy bald dude behind the President elect lol

  • How can Obama say he's consistent on the rights of gays and lesbians when he said publically that he doesn't support gay marrage.

  • I think Rick and Barack are fucking each other. Who's the top? WOuld love to see Rick get fucked. Conservative Christian males usually love to get fucked...that's my experience anyway!

  • oh really did you enjoy your experience?

  • Betrayed! The inclusion of Rick Warren at the inauguration is an unnecessary affront to the GLBT community. The man is going to give THE INVOCATION on January 20th, and to many of us in the gay community this is tantamount to throwing us to the lions. Rick Warren justifies his anti-gay bigotry as being based on his religious beliefs. And now he gets to invoke an era that condones that form of bigotry. Gay Rights are Civil Rights! Mr. Obama has made a mistake. This is WRONG!

  • He talks about gay and civil rights as if it was kind of a peripherical issue.

I think that especially someone with his background and biography should recognize that there must be NO PLACE in a democratic society for people such as R. Warren who incite discrimination against others and deny others their unalienable, full and equal rights!

  • I understand why he did it [basically trying to win over conservatives], but this still really rubs me the wrong way as a gay man...

Couldn't he have picked a less anti-LGBTQ person for the invocation?

  • It is ironic that the anti-gay messages of many churches today are the same as those against interracial marriage in the lifetimes of Obama's parents.

  • So if it is all about bringing all sides together, why hasn't Obama invited any KKK Grand Wizards to speak at his inauguration?

  • Oh of all the stupid and bitter things to say! This is the first president who used the term "gay" in a postive way during his acceptance speech. And Oh no he invites one guy who is not for gay marriage. And all things considered Rick Warren isn't as bad as they come, not like James Dobsin or Fred Phelps for christs sake. Hell Rick Warren is even for domestic partnerships. So quit being a stickler about the little things and be happy that for once we have a president who cares about LBGTs.

  • i love this guy. the first pres. who gives a damn about us.

  • You got that right

So what if he invites someone who doesn't support game sex marriage, we're still have a better chance of achieving it through obama than we did with bush.

  • well i mean obama says he is not for changing the definition of marriage and then he says he supports and i believe him but i'm confused on his stance..just glad he is in there anyways :)
