What is happening in Iran is exactly what is expected from a Muslim government. The great dilema of Baha'i religion is that they have broken with Islam. Originally it was a Sufi inspired reform movement of Shia Islam, but they broke with Islam taking many rituals with them.

If they hadn't broken with Islam, perhaps there would have been no space for those people that use Islam today to justify their ways of suppressing people.

Everything that Baha'i faith is, is taken from aspects of Islam, but they deny being Muslims, because that's politically correct in the west!

You know I hear a lot of people talking about how they object to Islam in Iran.

As a Baha'i, I do not. In fact, I object to the lack thereof. Those who claim to represent the faith of Muhammad but practice the deeds of Abu Jahl are the worst enemies of Islam.

Even more than the Baha'is who suffer in Iran, my heart aches on behalf of sincere Muslims in the world, unacquainted with the Baha'i faith, whose faith is mistreated by those who commit injustice in Islam's name.

@yakov321 - I believe I was referring to innocent Baha'is, but I would like to stop you right there and say that generalizing the situation and vilifying Muslims who are in the vast majority innocent. Some of the most outspoken defenders of Baha'is I have ever met are Muslim.

Letting injustice turn to bitterness and hatred only perpetuates it, and causes more injustice. We must not judge innocent Muslims for the crimes of others, for that harm shall revisit more and more innocents.

Goodfeloow there is something in Islam called Taqiyya. A Muslim can lie about being a Muslim, or break laws, or whatever, to supposedly protect oneself or a religion. In other words, lying. We Baha'is don't have this law.

As for asking the Iranian government, their position regarding Baha'u'llah does not deny that He was a member of the Persian nobility, that His father Mirza Burzug was a minister in the court of the Shah and that Baha'u'llah was offered such a position as well, which He declined.
