I am gonna chalk the ember thing up to luck, but yeah Bug might be tricky, but I chose it due to being my favorite type, and the strong early game representation.
Apparently in RBY (or at least Red/Blue) when you evolve your Weedle/Caterpie they don't learn Harden. I don't know why, but I don't really mind seeing as it's fairly useless.

Bug is tricky, but at least Butterfree and Beedrill are strong for early in the game.
Weird that Charnmander never tried Ember; it should know it by then!

Ember is learned at Lvl 9. So Charmander wouldn't have it. What I thought was weird is that your Kakuna doesn't have Harden... wassup with that?
