This songs reminds me of my childhood when PTV used to play this song sung by Alamgir. I did'nt understand a single word of it but I guess humen feelings get transfered without undestanding. I still relate to this songs as a song sung by people who are related to me spritually, mentally and physically and no barriers can seperate me with the Bengali culture because it is a part of me.

Doesn't matter ... I admit that massacre in 1971 was one of the biggest blunders by West Pakistan's Punjabi Stablishment... but there was a great sazish prepared in New Delhi also. What happended in 1971 was the fault of the Pakistani's and nobody else. 300,000 women raped,, 3 million civilians slaughtered, thousands of teachers, doctors, lawyers, journalists, intellectuals, engineers exterminated. All by Pakistani's under the authority and direction of Bhutto, Yahya and Tikka. Those three would easily be welcome alongside Pol Pot, Hitler and Pinochet.

Bangladesh was NEVER a part of Pakistan. It will ALWAYS remain separate. JOY BANGLA.

This vatiali song always touches my mind. However, I look for its original form, not the modern form. Yes, Alamgir sang this song on B TV along ago -- that was wonderful. This song immediately takes us to our eternal relationship with the water, the river and the sea, the original place for us.

whatever has happened in 1971 with the people of East Pakistan (Bangladesh) was a big sazish by india and western powers, which was further handled badly by (West) Pakistan's Military-cum-Punjabi Establishment and feudal lords of that time.
