  • yeah..well chuck starts the break into solo too soon and plays it off talkin to keith and then chuck hits a flurry of bad notes. thats karma for bein a butthole chuck

  • This version of ROB sucks hard. It never gets going. I blame the drummer...

  • What Chuck said to Keith in 0:48?

  • @Rotfl007546 The fellow below is correct - CB wanted to change keys and KR shut him down!

  • @beeroosterm Yeah now i see, thank you (:

  • Yeah according to Keith he wanted to change keys to Bb....lol!

  • thank you keith.

  • A few Rock -N- Roll Legends, doing what they do!

  • I remember this documentary. Chuck and Keith rehearsed this song over and over and over until they finally got it down. Then during the performance, Chuck walks back to Keith and says "We are going to change keys." You can see Keith shake his head and say "No" at :46.

  • @crazydiamond63 You know everyone is wondering what that exchange between Chuck & Keith is about, and not everyone has seen the documentary, so thanks for sharing :)

  • i have a gaming computer but i dont play games i rather listning to rock n roll/ blues

  • 0:45 chuck berry decides an old approach at guitar its called messing up.

  • amazing

  • Chuck Berry es el unico hombre en la tierra capaz de dejar mal al mismisimo Keith. Por eso, Keith se unio a el. Moraleja, hay que intentar tener amigos negros.

  • 2:25 Chuck Norris in the crowd

  • Chuck Berry is 60 years old here.....and he still plays now at 84! Bloody Legend!

  • Just think Rock and Roll music use to be call nigger music. African Americans have given this country, Gospel (slave songs); Jazz (started in the South, New Orleans); Blues (Created in the Mississippi Delta) Rock and Roll a combination of Jazz and Blues was created by African Americans that fled the south to escape the evils of Racism; JIMI HENDRIX gave a heavy led guitar sound commonly call rock: LOVE YOU CHUCK BERRY AND LITTLE RICHARD THE TRUE GENETIC KINGS OF ROCK AND ROLL

  • That Caribbean Pirate can sure play the guitar.

  • at 45 chuck wants to make a change to the way the songs being played and kieth richards didnt want to

  • lol wut happened at 0:45 ???

  • You know what would be really great? Listening to a Chuck Berry song on YouTube without seeing a goddamned Back to the Future comment.

  • This is a good example of what happens when you play the same song for 30 years

  • ...little to fast...

  • el mejor directo del rock, the best

  • 5:38

    oh god what

  • THIS IS MY FAVORITE VERSION OF "ALMOST GROWN"

  • 0:48

  • hey just see 0:31 even KEITH RICHARDS can't follw the style of the amazzing CHUCK BERRY!

  • Is that Bobby Keys on the sax?

  • @MrFrehley2 Yes. That is the great Bobby Keys blowing sax. Steve Jordan on drums; one of Keiths' guys; best I've ever heard next to Charlie Watts! Johnny Johnson on piano; this is an AMAZING band!

  • Berry is playing like utter crap..... read what Keith Richards says about him and these sessions.

  • Well i see in you the same sign language mimo, looks like i sow in you when ù mimed the same to me in the second day after Wonderfull

  • Well i see in you the same sign language mimo, looks like i sow in you when mimed the same to me in the second day after Wonderfull

  • Very tasty solo by Robert Cray in there too.

  • Keith says; "Nope, same chord" in reference to Chuck asking him to change keys after the chorus.

  • @JustinSosa I liked when Keith some how everything performance with Chuck was a "potential screw-it-up."

  • c'est quand même autre chose que Biréli Lagrène........

  • keith says ,, no man its ur tune ,,,,,,,

  • ATTENTION ALL PEOPLE READING MY INITIAL COMMENT ON THIS VIDEO: I know that the guy playing the red & white Strat is in fact Robert Cray and not Chuck Berry's cousin Marvin Berry, who was a fictional character portayed in the movie "Back To The Future". Thank you all for your concern & feedback and I'm glad that at least forty people got the joke/movie reference.

  • 0:47 FAIL x)

  • He is famous for changing the key middle in the song...drives all sideman crazy...must be a pain is the as work for this wako...with all respect to his work

  • Asked him to change keys. Keith couldn't hack it.

  • @papa2thdoc He was just wiffing on poor keef, who must be transfixed playing with CB. CB was a strong athlete, very strong guy.

  • @liveoilfree keith played with chuck lots of times and keith could look after himself dont watch that lol

  • Someone else that thinks it's kinda cool that someone that's older than my grandma is rocking as hell

  • I wonder what Chuck and Keith say at 0:45...

Great performance. Fantastic to see them enjoying themselves so much!

  • Comment removed

  • How can anybody dislikes this!?

  • Hermoso.

  • Yeah the god of the rock

  • ROCK MONSTERS! <3

  • Keith's solo was epic.....He's just the definition of cool.

  • el puto amo

  • Good ol' Bobby Keys on sax!

  • @PatricknAdam Very Good Brother

  • inigualables

  • Chuck inspired all the greats that followed Him, He was playing right up to the Grand old age of 84 or maybe more.!!!!

  • Keith doesnt like playing solos at all LOL.....

  • The man who started it all. Chuck Berry brought rock n roll to the masses.

  • I'm Chuck Berry's greatest fan - but this video is a prime example of when he started to get bored with his brilliant creations and started singing around the beat - losing the great relationship between the words and music. As John Lennon said: 'You don"t have to hear any music to know what Rock n' Roll is - you just have to say 'Gotta little letter, gonna mail it to my local DJ.'

  • J'ai les jambes qui se sont barrées danser avant la fin de ma phrase...CPhilD

  • You've gotta appreciate how happy Keith is jammin with his idol. An vice-versa as you see when Chuck kisses his hand @ the end- Bromance right there.

  • I'd love to know what keith said to him that was so funny :P

  • @scaredypicker Chuck Berry said he was going to change key in mid song and Keith said NO Fuckin' Way. you can hear the guitars go out of tune for moment. How do I know that? I use to have the video documenatery until some bastard stole it. Now i just have the box.

  • @novadrian Haha! It's probably because Keith couldn't be arsed moving his hand to play the solo in a different key :P Funny stuff, thanks for the insight

  • @novadrian It's funny when Keith says "NO," Chuck starts laughing!

  • @riffmaster073 Keith said 'No..!' at 0.48 because Chuck suggested they change the key....!!!

  • that dudde in the back with red guitar looks pimp

  • Hail! Hail! Chuck Berry!

  • Also Bobby Keys on Sax, good mates with Keef

  • @thalesamf at 0:46 Chuck tells keith to change the key of the song to Bm, keith later said there's no way he would have been able to do that then and there so he told Chuck no.

  • "Chuck. Chuck. It's Marvin - your cousin, Marvin BERRY. You know that new sound you're looking for? Well, listen to this. "

  • @The12Child family guy ? hahahaha

  • I like the part where he goes out of tune completly, and then kinda just acts like it all fits in, haha... sign of true genius folks

  • @BoogabooMusic That's the part where he danced over to Keith and said.. Let's change the key! You can tell by the look on Keith's face he was like.. NO WAY! Chuck was laughing so hard he lost focus! Chucked joked around and talked about having fun with Keith that whole tour.

  • @rcflybry but this time i wassent fun! like keith said: "no more" you can see tht chuck isnt happy about it!

  • Keith got pissed of with something Chuck said to him at 0:46 hehe

I must say: chuck is a GOD!!!! Can you see the way he plays?!?

  • perfect fit chuck keith--keith has probably co wrote more hits than any one , love you guys

  • perfect fit chuck keith--keith has probably co wrote more hits than any one love you guys

  • Haha. Robert Cray lookin' like Ray Charles here.

  • Chuck goes up to Keith and Says "were gonna switch to G key" and Keith says NO!, lol

  • LOVE THEM ALL>>>>>GO CHUCK!!! Guitars.....Drums...> SAX (OH YEAH) and **HOT*** Piano, too. These boys ROCK!!!

  • i love keith

  • Like Dylan, Chuck's gonna go where he wants to go, and you damn well better follow.

  • Keith may even be sober for once.

  • Elvis was the king, he is the emperor

  • Hey, is that guy playing the red & white Strat behind Chuck his cousin Marvin?

  • @LuckyStrikes55 Exactly - all the way back to 1955 ;)

  • @LuckyStrikes55 hahahahaha nice

  • @LuckyStrikes55 - it's Robert Cray

  • @PeckerwoodSmith I know, dude. My comment was a reference to the movie "Back To The Future". I'm sure you've seen it. If not, check it out. You'll see what I'm talking about.

  • @LuckyStrikes55 My recollection is that's Robert Cray.

  • @stewajf I know it is. Check my video response that posted on here. Hint: Back to The Future, anyone?

  • @LuckyStrikes55 Couldn't post it. Look up "Back To The Future: Marvin Berry New Sound".

  • @LuckyStrikes55 that's Robert Cray

  • @LuckyStrikes55 believe thats robert cray

  • @LuckyStrikes55 It' s Robert Cray, my friend.

  • @LuckyStrikes55 : no, that should be Robert Cray

  • @LuckyStrikes55 No, he is the great Robert Cray.

  • @LuckyStrikes55 you do know Marvin isn't real??

he was only in back to the future.

  • @BNWnerf Holy Shit. I've already addressed this. YES, I know Marvin was a fictional character for BTTF. Wow, I was just trying to write a witty comment that included a thinly veiled movie reference. For my efforts, I've had you and about twenty others take it too literally and/or point out that it's Robert Cray (which I knew). lol.

  • @LuckyStrikes55 it's Robert Cray

  • @LuckyStrikes55 NO ASS..THAT'S ROBERT CRAY...GET BACK TO THE FUTURE AND BURN IT..

  • @LuckyStrikes55 : That's Robert Cray, LOL nobody riffs like Chuck !!!!

  • @LuckyStrikes55 actually its robert cray

  • @philnunn1969 I thought that was Robert Cray. He's a great guitar man too.

  • Keith always was a good back-up for whomever:)

  • keith looks good in a tuxedo

  • @alohastewie Keith really fits in that gang!

  • Este si es el REY...

  • love can be found anywhere even in a guitar

  • u can quote me

  • yes Love rock and roll hate the Government

  • Looka how Keef got all dolled up -- anything for his idol CB.

  • I'd have DIED to be at this show! >< Chuck Berry and Keith Richards, you really can't get much better than that. And Bobby Keyes just takes it away on the ship of blues with that sax..Love it! <3

  • I'd have DIED to be at this show! >< Chuck Berry and Keith Richards, you really can't get much better than that. <3

  • who's on the sax?

  • @LanceVanceThug

Bobby Keyes. he's been a sax player and great friend of Keith Richards, and is on the Stones albums and concerts.

  • How can you call Chuck Berry rude, look at how much fun he's having with his sax player. He just wants things done the right way. If people can't deal with an abrasive personality, that's too bad for them, because Chuck is a genius and I'd love to have a conversation with him and play with him. Muddy Waters was the same way.

  • i would have KILLED to be there.

  • i've seen a video of brian johnson of ac/dc say that chuck berry is the rudest man he's ever met, i also read somewhere that keith richards said something along the lines of "I love his music but i couldn't warm to him if we were cremated together" and apparently tom jones said he's rude as well according to some comments.

conclusion, chucky berry wrote a few great songs which are actually pretty much the same but rearranged and other than that, he's a massive turd

  • @skillzdatkillz900 Those 'few' songs he wrote? You make it sound so minor, it is said by many, him, along with Buddy Holly shaped the music of today. Dont forget as well, without those two the Beatles wouldnt have happened and what would happen if there were no beatles?

  • I think that Chuck likes to screw with people's heads.

  • @harpo103 LOL Chuck Berry was a B A D dude, an athlete, a tough guy, and a great musician. You get the feeling you'd love to have known him at this time, abrasive or not; an azz-kicker, a good man.

  • WOW the video quality is awesome

thanks for the vid man =)

  • tom Jones once stated that chuck berry was a selfish and rude musician of which he had no desire to play with... he had obviously been rude to him as they met in the early days

  • Keith mit Fliege un das nach 50 Jahren Jesus

  • really interesting to watch. considering nearly all the musicians with Chuck, couldn't stand him!

  • @michelle88960

    I thought he was cool.

  • is that Robert Cray?

  • Great version of Almost Grown. Thanks very much.

  • what a wonderful charisma ?

  • Can you say love hate relationship?

  • @martone27 i think its mostly hate ;) :P

  • Even though this is his song, I like George Harrison's version better

  • sorry , its the joey spampinato show !

  • I get the feeling that Chuck took an instant dislike to Keith judging by other youtube vids and stories I've heard, I wonder why? He seemed to dig other younger musicians like Lennon and Clapton.

  • Chuck Berry everybody.

  • Keith Richards wearing a suit!? :O

  • @MrVoss94 Prob first time since his last court appearence

  • Is that Robert Cray also playing backing guitar?

  • That's how famous Chuck Berry is.

He can get Keith Richards to wear a suit, and play backing guitar for him.

  • @MrCeej9999 Yeah sort of but it's KR's graciousness that made the whole event possible. The effort to get Chuck backed by a top band onstage was all Keiths initiative. CB is a legend but up to this point he was doing it on the cheap with lousy pick up bands and basically ruining his own rep. KR hauled him up out of the weeds.

  • @davidscott001 Good to see that some folks know the history. Keith had so much patience with this CB!

  • @davidscott001 are you saying a top rock n' roll band in each large city cant play a 12 bar blues?

Chuck says in rehearsal hes got 2 songs 1. johnny B Goode 2. Hail hail Rock n' Roll . Those two formats sorted and then he just jams entire concerts. Even this band is playing by radar...... despite what Keith tried to do for him in rehearsal.

  • @stormcats2 I'm saying that CB was not playing with top bands...he was hiring the cheapest bands available in most cases with no rehearsals and as a result CB's live shows were in general not so good.

  • ;is that chris martin from coldplay(2.26)

  • robert crays back there too. he's little subtle here, but I think he's cool. I mean the guy played bass in animal house.

  • KEITH!!!!!!!

  • Chuck ain't no fooll....he is one koool Cat! He owns this s***. He's such a natural...lol

  • With Keith playing the lead, Chuck can do and sing whatever he likes. And he does.

  • Chuck Berry is the only person on earth that could have Keith Richards as BACKING guitar.

  • @grandrapids57 lol, get ur facts straight, Keef almost always plays rhythm guitar

  • Johnny Johnson. Chuck's original piano player

  • @howlinwolf73 Thanks to Keith

  • the piano player s the best who is he ?

  • keith should have said yes =[

  • i think keith looked a little pissed off when chuck said change cord

  • look at chuck's fingers, there about 2 miles long, same thing with stevie ray vaughan, they both look like they could bar the 3rd, play in the 9th 10th and 11th all the while muting the 6 string,LOL.

  • berry sweats cool

  • Chris Martin at 2.26?

  • che mezz....

  • Óriási a Király,de Keiths,se "kutya!"!

  • luv u both

  • Love Keith's tux!! Actually ordered identical one for my wedding including tie.

  • Keith is a boy in front of Chuck.

    Chuck is godfather of rock

  • hay man.....keith...i love you!

  • Keith Richards rocks no matter what he wears..........Chuck Berry is fabulous.

Keith is one of the greatest guitar players of all times...........

We need more music just like this..........

  • in reality, during his entire career chuck berry has basically written one song. keif has penned over a thousand gems. he is so good he has literally written some while sleeping. lmao.

  • Let's hear it for Johnnie Johnson! Without him, Chuck was left with his Ding-a-Ling.

"his role in helping create Chuck Berry’s sound is ..pointed out by Richards, who said he came to realize Johnson’s importance ...

“He ain’t copying Chuck’s riffs on piano ... Chuck adapted them to guitar and put those great lyrics behind him,” Richards says in the film.

  • Joey Spampinato one of the greatest rock bassists ever next to JPJ John Entwistle.

  • @ox092 joey is very cool indeed, how do you know when the bass isnt so obvious unless you lock in, but you would notice it more if he werent there, great choice for one of the bass playing greats , have a nice day

  • best two axemen ever lived

  • I do love the combination of Chuck and Keith: Its like a Father and a naughty son relationship.

  • Cool fucker.

  • YEAHH CON ESTA PINCHE ROLA SI ME PONGO A BAILAR YEAHH AUUUU BABY

  • luv thu f outa c berry and the great back-up band assembled here and guests............but, c. berry just doesn't do the GREAT JOHNNIE JOHNSON JUSTICE. Only Eric Clapton acknowlegdes this great musician. so sad that c.b. so under-appreciated J.J.'s "musical genious."
