Miss Massey's manifesto in this scene is my favorite routine in the history of motion picture comedy, period!
I saw her in '78 at CBGB's dpwntown when she was appearing with her act 'Scratch 'N' Sniff, at least that's how they were billed at that given time-I know she also performed with 'The Eggs' & 'Edith Massey's All-Girl Band', but am unsure how the personnel differed in those entities, if at all.
The 1970's take a bad rap as those years had some great stuff.
I worry that you'll work in an office, have children, celebrate wedding anniversaries....the world of heterosexual is a sick and boring life!!!! ROFL!
Queers are just better. I'd be so proud if you was a fag, and had a nice beautician boyfriend. I'd never have to worry! OMG, no funnier dialogue was ever written, or delivered by Edith! Every line she ever uttered was hysterical! God I wish I could have met her!
@DennyYou I met Edith at a club in Philly called the East Side Club on Chestnut street in the early 80's. It was a club that showcased a lot of punk bands and early "punk" that went on to get really big (U2 and Duran Duran for a $1 in a club that held about 175). Edith was there with a band called the Sick F*cks. She was really nice and talked to everyone who approached her, even after the line of people waiting to talk to her grew very long. Just a really nice sweet person! R.I. P. Edith
John Waters always said he loved to be in a theater while this was playing because he always knew who was gay when they laughed at the line "the life of a heterosexual is a sick and boring life"!....CLASSIC
I like a lot of queers-I just don't dig their equipment!

Is it true that Divine died a week after "she" ate shit in another John Water's film? I guess you really can die from eating shit.
