good job! i know nothing about this stuff, but it's super interesting to watch. how do you like living in your house now? insulation making a difference this winter?
@xSHAD0WENx Yea I used to think those bike guys were dorks but know I am one:P Gary Fisher is the king! Thanks for the comments and that particular helmet makes me look like a mushroom I noticed it when I watched the vid the first time.
Been catching up on your house videos, just wanted to say thanks a lot for making these, I am really enjoying them - so nice to see some grown up stuff instead of more of the same "wow japan!" or "look at this novelty food" etc. Which I'm as guilty of as anyone.
Thanks, I agree I love doing food vids but try to do something different. Hmmm maybe fried bees? But seriously, I have always wanted to do a project like this on You Tube and finally I got my chance. Thanks and I hope to do more unique stuff as time goes on. But still a few "Hey I'm drunk!" vids wont hurt. he he
Not sure... but I do want to put a vapor barrier on the dirt floor with crushed stone over it. I also want to insulate the floor. All in good time though:)
The house is livable at present but still has some open walls, missing sink in the bathroom, no weather seal on the front door, etc. I will get some smaller projects like those done during the holiday break. I figure by next year the kitchen will be done and I will have painted the roof and face boards. Maybe 5 years and its fully restored. The back breaking hustle is over now so we can coast and do things little by little here on out. The rest is up to us now so that will be cheaper.
That's what always attracted me to Japanese architecture. In the old days you could basically change the size of any room at will by simply opening and closing doors.

Cool video. Interesting to see how they have done it
In older homes, the floor boards were removable
RE: Concrete piers on dirt:
"Some people might say oh my god, " but that's the way they also did it in tract homes in California, lol

I wonder if the lack of a vapor battier is to prevent moisture from building up and rotting the wood.

Another really interesting video. When do you think the house will be ready to go? I can't wait to see the final product :)

You really have your work cut out for you.
I have an old hard hat - want me to send it? ;)
It'll be a Christmas present!

I love how you're wearing your bike helmet while working! I definitely agree with Nihonjohnny, that bear at the end of work must truly taste good~
And thanks for accepting my friend request!

Actually I forgot to take it off before shooting cause I ride my bike everywhere. Ha ha cool idea maybe I should wear it as a hard hat. Thanks!

Once your work is complete I'm sure you'll relish the opportunity to kick back with a beer (or more) and admire the finished product. Nice work!
