  • i have seen like 5 different ways to get the line art trasnparent but i have photoshop elements 6 and i cannot get any of them to do it in my select menu i do not have a color range option i have also seen it done by using channels which i also do not have i am trying to get rid of the white in my line art so i can start to actually paint it without having pixelated grey and white garbage all around my lines if you know anything about elements 6 plz help

  • Nice video, really shows a lot. And learn many new things! Thank u

  • this isnt the 'pro' way to coloring comics. professional colorist use channels

  • So when you painted over her face just for an example, I noticed you could still see her eyes through the paint, it that because that layer is set on transparency?

  • I have photoshop Cs2, and when I try to lock the line art layer and then change the color, it comes up with the the block sign because the layer is locked. Is it because I'm using a lesser version?

  • @ZombieClockwork Are you using the transparent lock? It's the one that looks like a clear square, not the one that looks like a lock icon.

  • also how do i make it in color

when ever i use any brush or color it's this grey scales thingy how do i change that ?

  • hey , so after i opened my lineart in photoshop as the background in cs5 i used the color range thing to make it lines only and hit delete but then it asked me what to use as a background after deleting the white background there was about 10 options without any transparency option or anything of that sort help ?

  • can people who hasn't got the skills to draw have a chance in digital art ???

  • @gotmagzz No. Drawing digitally is the same, if not harder.

  • @architectus777 harder is a understatement. i can draw pen in ink a drawing with in a hour i'm working from 3 days to 8 hours digitally. and the only plus side is that i dont have to worry about the fatal error of the stray line messing the whole drawing up

  • Watched all 16 parts. The problem I have is the first step, the base , the illustrator part. It seems to be the most important. Unfortunatly if someone starts to sketch in the same document and can't do those straight lines he can't follow your coloring tehnic. Would have lots of questions but to resume cos there's no space: although I like your tutorial I'm having troubles getting from a sketch with lots of lines and hashing to that perfect lines import file to apply your Select tehnic :(

  • @umbraunuivis It takes practice. I'm going to be release like a 9 hour course on my website for $10 that deals with mastering the human form.

  • i cant thank you enough for this

  • I like the talking bubbles from your artwork.

  • Thank you man! SUB!

  • got a few questions for yah: what size was your canvas when you did the inking, what method did you use to get it in to photoshop, and last; have you made the new "how to ink in illustrator" video? :)

  • Can you do a tutorial on how you ink in Illustrator?

  • Never mind, I saw the video seconds after i posted the comment.

  • I'm drawing a comic in s professional opinion should I do paper first then computer or just do it all on the computer? Also how do you make such perfect lines ?

  • @chimjw Either way is fine. Some prefer paper firstr, and some just use the PC the whole way. I just use the PC the whole way. To get perfectly lines, I use illustrator, although I have been Inking in Photoshop CS5 lately.

  • @chimjw If you are not familiar with Illustrator or prefer using Photoshop. One way to get perfect lines is to use the pen tool. You can use the pen tool to get the exact contour you want for your line and then right click and stroke the path (line). Note: you have to have your brush tool preset to the desire size, type etc BEFORE you stroke the path (this changes the path to lines). After you stroke the path (create lines), you right click again to delete the path; perfect lines every time.

  • so we have to use adobe phoyoshop CS3?

  • @wuzzat1234 You can use pretty much any Photoshop. It only means you will not have some features.

  • what i like about your videos is that you explain what some of the buttons do. You simply just take time in explaining different things and you're in no hurry. Thank you for a wonderful tutorial!

  • @MissSammy89 In the video I click the lock transparency. Do a search for it. You might not have it if you don't have a newer version of Photoshop. I know it's in CS3.

  • Cool, thank you very much. Just thought i would say thanks a ton on all of your tutorials, been following your videos for awhile now, helped me a lot with my art =), Take care and keep up the good work.

  • @Sickproof Thank you. I really appreciate the comment.

  • would i still be able to color that kind of image though?

  • @Sickproof Yeah just follow the instructions on this video on how to remove the white background, or use the multiply method I also show in this video.

  • Awesome tutorial, I'm just wondering how would i set up the layers if i have an image saved from a manga reading site, at the moment I'm just dragging it into PS CS3 and am unsure how to setup the layers, been awhile since i have worked in PS. Thanks in advance, keep up the great work.

  • @Sickproof You can't change something like that into layers without redrawing everything on layers.

  • @zombieiscool I like him as well. I bought a few of his videos to see how he works. I like to learn other artist's techqniues.

  • Thank you for the great help :)

  • @Gendgi No problem, and you're welcome.

  • LOL, i love the name, "I Paint girls" it sounds so weird.

  • omg. You read my mind. This is exactly what Ive been wanting to know. Thanks alot!!!!!!

  • The color range is a good technique. I actually use something different.

I create a blank layer above my lineart, and then drag the RGB or Gray channel into the "Make selection from channel' and select inverse, then fill black on the blank layer. It accomplishes the same thing, and for me, it's quicker. To note: The crisper the lineart, the better for this method, as selections like that have a bit of antialiasing.

  • This video got a better sound than the other ones.

  • @IbbChr I got a new USB mic :)

  • Great :D

  • awweome, thanks going to check out your gallery : )

  • Amazing! Thank you very much! :D

  • @ToxyHazelnut no prob. :)
