@mugenakias I'm glad someone has made it. I was looking for plans online and could not find any suitable ones so I decided to design my own. Thanks for taking the time to let me know. It make the effort of producing the video all worthwhile.
I dont know if im just not a dumbass or what but this type of thiing is easily made with imiganation and a little elbow grease i dont see why so many people are asking about instructions and if the guy can make it for them haha
Hi Bob, I live in the UK. You can convert metric units easily by typing 'convert mm to inches' in google or yahoo. The sizes do not have to be precise, a few mm here and there will not make any difference. For example 19mm by 46mm would be 1" by 2" planed all round over here, or 3/4" by 1 3/4" thick wood. I hope this has not confused you. The planing process reduces the thickness of wood by around 1/4". I made the stand 'on the hoof' then took the measurements for the video. Good luck!
@jonrox24 No it is not wobbly. I have played on it for days and had no problems. You can see what it is like in the video. Have a look. Your feet are on the base for the peddles and the stand is not flimsy so there is very little movement.
@NascarAndV8supercars - That depends on your skill and what tools you have. It took me around 3 hours to make. I have a well equipped workshop which makes things much easier. I would make a very rough guess that you could make it in a day with basic power and hand tools and a little bit of knowledge of wood working.
@JudithRhea It did not cost me anything as I had all of the wood and fittings left over from other projects. If I was making the stand on a budget, I would make it out of 19mm MDF as I think this would work out very cheap. The brackets are the only thing that would require wood and I would look for a 3 x3 fence post off cut or something. Coach bolts would probably be available in small numbers form somewhere like ebay or a hardware store. Then it's screws and glue.
@wastnTIMEwastnTIME I am lucky enough to have a circular saw table, sander and router. The stand could be made with hand tools, but it would take a fair bit longer. The brackets could be made with a hand saw, hammer and chisel. The slot could be replaced by a number of drilled holes equally spaced on each support arm. The rest is just cutting drilling and sanding. It is much easier to make with power tools. I would not like to try and make it with only a hammer and nails though!!
The stand looks great. Thanks for sharing. I wish you had plans online (do you?), especially in something like SketchUp. It would make making one a whole lot easier.

@darroni123: There are a number of different wheels that work with GT5 made by different manufacturers. The Logitech Driving Force GT has been designed with GT5 in mind and has a few extra fetures for use in the game.
This is an awesome stand! Just ordered the same wheel as well for GT5. I have a couple have seats I plan on playing in (gamer chair and couch) so I definitely will have to try to make this, although it may be a step above my contruction skills.
I think someone with fairly basic woodworking skills and tools could make it. It would be much easier with dedicated woodworking machinery, but a hand saw and chisel could be used for making both sets of brackets. The slot in the side support arms could be replaced by holes drilled in line, reasonably close together. The rest is fairly simple. I could not find any plans online myself and thought that they may be useful for people wanting to have a go at making their own stand.
I think the Logitech Driving force GT is great! I am not much good at driving games, but the wheel makes it much easier and a lot more fun! It really gets the adrenaline pumping. I can't wait for GT5 to be released.
@s1urpster GT5 is great and also NFS shift And F1 2010 along with D2 all work well with DFGT wheel on PS3 and PC just need to tweak setting,s on NFS and Dirt 2 . I am no good with game pad or key board but do pretty good with the wheel and getting better with practice .

Great stand but I was more interested in the numerous dismembered corpses in the freezer in the background.

Nice thanks for making the vid and great choice in soundtrack :) ... am I the only one that uses the paddle shifters behind the wheel?
I bet it's easier to use the actual shifter when the wheel is secured to something.
mistakao 1 year ago
@mistakao: I found that I lost track of which paddle was which when I started turning the wheel on tight bends, so I stopped using them.
