  • The stupid actions of yourselves caused further delays and put your lives in danger. You have no idea whether the power is on or not and could have killed not only yourself by some others. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU SHOULD BE PROSECUTED

  • If I had been the driver of the train that they got off I would have kept quiet - though my only concern would have been another driver seeing them and shitting themself...

  • @railroadrob2010 They should get the same as the people who took part in the riots: The woman who shot this video should get four years. The inconvenience and distress they caused was equal to that caused by the rioters and if they get away with what they did it will prove that anti-social behaviour is only punishable when committed by those who are lowest on the social pyramid. Give this middle-class shower some short sharp jail sentences to make them reflect on their stupidity.

  • Taken from the southern press release put out the day after:

Delays were lengthened by a small number of passengers who chose to get off their train and walk to Norbury station. Their actions just as the power was ready to be switched on, not only endangered their lives but extended delays for everyone else by an additional hour.

  • @lookupmonster Clearly on your planet, no cyclists die on the roads and the pavements at rush hour instantly triple in width to accommodate the thousands of stranded commuters. I wrote this comment about striking in response to Network Rail members hurling abuse at a single passenger, yet we are expected not to question or protest their actions that put us at risk and make us equally angry.

  • @TheLittleredxxxx I'm confused. While no-one likes strikes, a) what does a strike have to do with this situation in any way? and b) "risking people's lives"?! eh? what planet are you on where a lack of trains endangers people?

  • One irresponsible mindless idiot who wants to be a Mavrrick and willing to risk the lives of other fellow passengers by walking along the track not knowing which is the live rail, how pathetic are you. well i guess that question has been answered and because of your stupidity it took the Police, Network Rail,Southern twice as long to sort out the Problem Next time be a irresponsible Idiot somewhere else (On the Bus maybe)

Ps:the Bitch who took this Video needs a Slap upside her head.

    .

  • @Iheartnandos How utterly ridiculous! So - risking people's lives out of pure greed 'only a few times a year' is ok?! Yet this poor girl is subjected to all the abuse possible to throw at her? Maybe it's about time Employees of Network Rail and TFL knew better.

  • Thick as shit - simple. One day someone will get killed, and it will have been the fault of people like this. As for the comment on more police/staff, they were probably busy sorting out the real problem!

  • the electricity supply would have been cut, causing no threat to passengers. but you must always assume they are live. if you lot did that because of your stupidity then it is just that, your stupidity.

This is sometimes why we can never have faith in passengers so we keep them on the train at all times, how many stupid and ridiculous people would film something like this if you find it difficult to walk in high heels and a skirt. you should be looking after your safety. idiots.

  • Absolutely bloody raging just watching this. MINDLESS IDIOTS. If this ever happened at one of my stations, i'd lose my mind.

  • A clear case of normals that just don't understand.

  • wot a load of pricks! serve u all right if u got juiced up, ur all too thick to travel on trains with normal people, muppets the lot of u!

  • You have a cute voice!

  • Yes I would have stayed on the train unless told to leave the train by the driver. The driver has to get out to do his duties, but he is trained to be on the track safely. The rails have a voltage of 750V which would have killed any of you had you touched them not to mention the fact that the trains could've started running again at any point while you dumb f***s were walking along the tracks. You have basically risked your lives for an inconvenience of a delay, well done gob sh***s.

  • Selfish irresponsible idiots who ought to get harsh prison sentences.

  • @adriandurrant Throw away the key!

  • It's nice to see the wildlife walking along the trackside, making their way back to their burrows!

  • I have to condem yours and the other passengers actions as irresponsible and thoughtless. How did you know that the live rail wasn't live when you decided to leave the train and if trains had started to run again? There were reports of passengers trooping down the line with children (what an example of responsible parenting) As a train driver I have seen the aftermath of persons trespassing on the tracks. It's not a nice sight. There can be no justification for doing this except in an emergency.

  • Very foolhardy and extremely dangerous......the third rail placed away from the main pair of tracks is indeed the electrified one, which could have killed you if the juice had been turned on. The reason you are getting such abuse from others is because you have delayed thousands of commuters who, like you, "just wanted to get home". Although you would have been able to claim a refund on your ticket, tresspassing could now leave you open to prosecution from Network Rail and Southern.

  • Erm.... morons the lot of you - how stupid are you to have walked on the tracks - hopefully your names were taken when you get to the station platform and you'll all get a slap in the post

  • Dear Network Rail and TFL employees, Perhaps if you are so terribly concerned with the welfare of your stranded passengers and wish no further delays - you could work a little more consistently and not strike? On a regular basis you force thousands of pedestrians and Ill-prepared cyclists to spill into the London traffic - risking lives and damaging our economy further. Perhaps you could spent less time making a scapegoat of one of the last to leave the train and consider your own actions?

  • @TheLittleredxxxx a few times a year? Yeah that's regular,

  • @TheLittleredxxxx What has striking got to do with this incident. Every single day, trespass incidents occur across the network, and YOU, a fare paying passenger, who wants their train to run on time, gets delayed by some nutter who decides to go for a walk on the railway and then crawls under a train. You have no idea what you're talking about.

  • This has taken place during exceptional circumstances and the people in this video, primarily, the author, were forced to escape the train. Clearly, we, as society, need to be sympathetic to people put in these circumstances not show indecency and lack of understanding. Have some manners... it is a shame that nobody has any humility and patience any-more...

  • @lsoldatt It's not exceptional really is it. If it was there would be more police and btp to escort people off of the track, as you'll note there's only a few. Also if it was exceptional the staff would have known that and we didn't, also there would have been lineside railway staff in hvv's and I can see none.

  • @lsoldatt

"Forced" to leave the trainWhat, somebody told you? What an arse.

  • "... What would you have done..." ... Stayed on the train.... If you are in any doubt as to why this is a good idea watch this.....

    youtube.com/watch?v=hV2tJNW2Htg

  • im sorry i have to say this, you are such a stupid little girl you have no idea the dangers you put yourself in, yes people got off the train and you follwed, but ask yourself if someone jumped of a high rise building would you follow, course not cos that would be stupid, what you did was the same thing, you are all stupid, and as for the driver getting off the train, being a driver myself i would imagin the only reason he got off was to try and stop any of you killing yourself

  • All of you who did this are idiots. I hope they fine you heavily for your stupidity. Risking your lives unnecessarily is just ridiculous. This was not an emergency and you had no justification for this. All you've succeeded in filming this is not shame the train company, but prove how you have zero concept of danger and thought a video was more important. You silly pathetic little girl.

  • @brandygrrl It actually says in the description that they deliberated and then decided to get off the train. It did not say that they were told to. You're trying to get drivers and police in serious trouble because you can't ever take responsibility for your own actions.

  • Are you stupid ? I hope you get the BTP at your door and you face a £1000 fine

  • If he did, it's a sackable offence. It's not southerns fault, these people need to take responsibility for their own actions.

  • As a professional train driver that works in this vicinity, I can guarantee that the driver would never give permission for this to happen.

  • Perhaps if someone had told these people what was going on, they would have known the train was about to get moving again, and stayed. When I've been stuck in a stationary train in London in the past, communication has been terrible. We all know the air con in even very new trains is pathetic even when it is running, it was a hot day and there was no power to the cars, so it was probably not nice in there.

Oh, and can people stop trying to come off like they understand electricity...you don't.

  • @BakedDrake "Oh, and can people stop trying to come off like they understand electricity...you don't." Um what? How do you know what people "understand" and what they don't? In any case it's very simple, if you touch a 750v live rail you are likely to die or be severely injured. Whatever the conditions on the train it doesn't justify doing something completely stupid and irresponsible.

  • The poster of this video had nothing to do with the delays on the train and the evacuation was decided by police officials and the train driver. Not one of these passengers just suddenly decided to abandon the train, they were told to get off to walk to the next station. Whether the power was on or not, a decision was made to have these people walk so if anything, blame Southern for being irresponsible with the care of their passengers.

  • @brandygrrl

A driver would never authorise passengers to leave the train - I suspect that would be a sackable offence if he did. The police would never authorise it either, especially with the power on. If they ever were to, they would always turn the power off first and ensure no trains in the area were moving...

  • @RangersLadForever well it happened so there isn't much more to say than that! I'm sure if you were sat on a train and then told to get off with police escorting you down the tracks, you'd do what you were told too.

  • @brandygrrl

I'm sorry, that is utter rubbish. It would NEVER be authorised for that to happen, unless you have a reliable source for that (such as the BTP, Network Rail or Southern) then I highly doubt that happened.

  • You selfish, stupid, ill informed woman. I work on the railways and know that hazards. You walk within inches of a rail carrying 750v, you climb onto a "ramp" from which you could fall onto the live 750v rail.....should a train have started running when you were on the bridge, it may well have struck you.

lets hope BTP can identify you all from this. And lets hope you did write in for your refund, so we know who you are.

  • You thick bitch!! Perhaps when one of you stupid bastards gets killed doing this you will realise that no matter how long the delay you stay on the train-words fail me!!

  • Trust me when I say, that the juice was on when these people climbed from the train. The power was recharged at 1914, after the previous trespass at Thornton Heath. The BTP requested it to be turned off at 1918 after these incredibly stupid people decided to alight the train. That's at least 4 minutes these people were literally dancing with death.

  • Are you just plain stupid?

  • The poster didn't cause delays, a mentally ill man who climbed under a train at Thornton Heath caused the delays. The line had been closed by the police by this stage anyway so there was no danger of other trains hitting them.

They're still idiots for moaning about the live rails etc, they could have stayed on the train but they're hardly war criminals like some would have you believe..

  • Comment removed

  • Selfish, pure selfishness, me and several thousand others were stuck on hot trains with the power off while the police had to go out and round you all up. Did you notice that the line you were next to at the beginning was in fact the 3rd rail so you were a few cm from death/serious injury - BTP will be getting shown this as...

  • Unbelievable! Dont you worry about the THOUSANDS of passengers stranded for longer than they had to be while you took this SELFISH decision to totter off down the ballast.... what if u had fallen and cracked yr nails, or worse! Are u 'sorry for the delay'?

  • I like your comment on being scared when walking down the track, what do you expect you complete and utter f**king idiot.

You put yourself and others at danger and to film it while walking on the track.

I hope the police take action against you and the other f**cking idiots there.

And you even ask for a refund. What planet are you from F**kwit.

What a complete and utter C**t

  • I got stuck on a plane that broke down on a taxi way at JFK airport for 2 hours because of a fault with the fuel system(glad It didnt take off to be honest!)....the passengers on that certainly didnt start opening doors and walking down the runway!! :-p

  • moron fact you dont get out and walk! stupid and reported video to btp

  • It gets even better lol a metal object being carried by people with no knowledge of the juice rail lol comical.

  • Probably opened it for aeration not to let people off.

  • What a fucking bunch of tw@s

  • Everything has been pretty much said about how stupid you were in getting off the train just because others were doing the same. Something else you might want to take in to account is the Train drivers of other trains,,what if a train did come along and hit some of you? That driver will have to live with that for the rest of his/her life, and maybe never be able to drive again due to the trauma. All because you wanted to get home early..oh and the voltage isn't 750 anymore,,it was upgraded a fe

  • Ask these people what the voltage is from a home plug and they'd probably look at you with blank faces. These idiots probably think trains run on something like 50 volts. Ask them what the difference is between AC & DC current and you'd probably get the same afforementioned blank faces. I almost wish one of them had touched that juice rail...It isn't a pretty sight...and the smell - Phew!!! They'd have learnt a good lesson the hard way. I guarantee you that none would ever walk the track again.

  • Funny and you deserve everything you get. Would have been ironic if someone had trodden on the live rail and keen killed as well. Love the ignorance that you think its TFL responsible for this. What would I have done stayed on the train. If the idiots that hadn't got off the train first you would have been moving as the all clear had just been given. Hope that you get arrested and prosecuted.

  • And youve got the audacity to blame others? You were seriously lucky here, because I've been told by people at work, that the electricity was turned back ON just before you stupidly got out, and it doesn't matter if you knew that or not. Luckily it was switched back off. Oh, and good luck with getting ya refund, cos f*** me you're gonna need it!

  • I've had colleagues that have had people commit suicide under their trains, people that hate their lives do much, theyre willing to use my colleagues to end their life. I'm talking mothers jumping with their kids, as bad as that. I've had to stop someone doing it on his daughters 4th birthday. Some colleagues haven't returned to work, as they're so traumatised by what happened. And you lot deliberately got out, risked your safety AND that of others, AND then you've got the audacity to blame oth

  • Complete morons. I don't think you realise how lucky you are to still be alive.

  • Idiots

  • I'm a train driver, and I drive trains along this stretch all the time. Firstly, I dont understand why you got out and walked the tracks, all it takes is one train to come along and you would all be wiped out. Secondly, you couldn't pay me enough money to walk next to the live rail, one touch on that and you will die. Thirdly, it's got diddly squat to do with TFL, as you were walking on southern railway tracks. And fourthly, you were trespassing, which is illegal and so, so dangerous. I've had

  • Why did you think it was safer to go on the tracks or trackside than to stay on the train? Please can you answer that question for me as I cannot understand how "just wanting to get home" outways your own safety. Seriously please explain that for me.

  • You even say that the police are there to arrest 300 people "what they gonna do?" Were you dead during the riots 3 weeks ago?? Have you not realised that 1,200 + people have been caught on cctv during the riots? Do you not realise that the cctv on the trains, and your filming will aid Network Rail, Southern, FCC and TfL (I don't know how they're to blame or involved), in securing a conviction against your 300 people the same way that 1,200+ rioters were???? You're thick.

  • Comment removed

  • The emergency signs in every train say in the event of an emergency, which the train stopping is NOT, please stay INSIDE the carriage. For your own safety, they are there. That is because a train hurtling along at a rate of knots and then some could smash into you and kill you. Or you could touch the electric running through a lot of that track, and be killed. Or you could hold up the journeys for everyone else, causing many thousands of people to be inconvenienced and costing LOTS. cheers.

  • @JUNKLADY. lmao nicely put.

  • How thick are you? I direct that to the person who filmed this... You were quite scared????? Why didn't you stay on the train then you ponce? Please tell me why you got out of the train. Then filmed it giving Network Rail and the Police evidence to prosecute you for illegal tresspassing. I hope that you get nicked, fined all the delay money, and have any kids that you may have taken away cos if you can't look after your own safety then you shouldnt be left in charge of anyone elses.

  • Guh, the tone of this woman's voice, coupled with her ignorance really put me on edge. I actually feel sick at the thought that one person's own self-importance can lead to such stupidity and inconsideration for other people for the sake of a delayed journey. Also, those heels: SO 2009.

  • oh and getting off the train was bad enough, you then decide to video it! 1. you should be concentrating on where yoir walking not playing with your mobile and 2. now you think iys acceptable to advertise this and encourage others to do the same in similar events.

  • You're right in what you say - it was you and the other people on your train that caused more delay and so made the situation worse.

Why people think they knew best and decided to force doors open and walk on a track is beyond me.

I hope those people who walked on the track have to compensate the other people who did the right thing and waited while the tracks were cleared of you lot.

So please do write into Southern to complain - purely so they have your address to send the invoice to.

  • Blaming TFL (who have nothing to do with mainline services) and assuming that police are there to arrest everyone (when in fact they seemed really helpful, concerned only with passenger safety)? What's even worse is that for somebody so concerned with her own safety, she doesn't even have the decency to put camera down & stop filming when a gentlemen takes her hand to help her scale a track.

OH NOES! Delayed train and you were wearing heels? Awful, attention-seeking, self-centred person.

  • I have just flagged this video for removal. As a member of railway staff I know what can happen when when people take matters into their own hands and walk down the track, AND ITS NOT NICE! I understand that you were delayed and why? because of a trespasser on the railway. Was that not enough to make people aware of the dangers!? Absolute stupidity!

  • You're complaining about having to walk along "live tracks", surely if it bothered you that much, you would have stayed on the train. You didn't need to and weren't asked to. You and your ignorant fellow passengers made the delays worse and inconvenienced everyone else, as well as putting yourselves and others at considerable risk. I'm sorely tempted to refer this to the BTP, and for what it's worth, it's a shame none of you touched the live rail and put 750 volts through yourselves.

  • Absolute selfish idiots. Firstly, TfL have nothing to do with that line, so they won't refund you. If anything, I hope the transport police deal with you all for trespass. Thanks to you lot, many more passengers were inconvenienced.

  • First you state you don't know which rail is live and which isn't, but you freely decided to jump down and walk along the tracks anyway. Then you stated you only did it "because everyone else did". So if everyone else jumped off a cliff would that mean you would have done that also? What you did was beyond stupid, and selfish too. And on top of that you expect to be compensated by TfL....who have nothing to do with that line btw. You don't deserve to compensated; you deserve to prosecuted.

  • If you'd all stayed on the train, power could have been switched back on a lot earlier & you wouldn't have had that walk. Not only that, all those trains that were stuck could have got moving a lot quicker.

The police just wanted you out of the way as quickly and safely as possible. You were within inches of a rail that could have been carrying 750V, easily enough to kill you. You freely admit that you're 'not an expert on train tracks and what is live and what is not'. Then why take the risk?

  • very nice legs in those heels though eh...

  • @tanyanagar the police are friendly in these situations because they need to get you off the lineside ASAP. what you did was absolutely 100% illegal.

  • @lookupmonster

Indeed, trespass. Staff get enough of a telling off for going on without hi-vis, never mind public in high heels and skirts!

As for the bloke in front at 0:10, how close is he to the juice rail?

  • @lookupmonster You need to brush up on your legalities I think!!!

  • @hstscotsman If I really needed to justify myself I would upload a video I took of the BTP helping us and being friendly. We followed the crowd and did not initiate anything illegal. Honestly, people absolutely LOVE to find ANYONE they can to hurl abuse at, without looking at the bigger picture. I've uploaded this to document my journey home, not to gloat about 'trespassing'.

  • I understand the motives for getting off the train and I'd probably have done the same after two hours but to then moan about the walk and having no understanding of live third rails is beyond ridiculous, you come dangerously close to frying yourself if the electricity was turned on through ignorance of not knowing the rails contain thousands of volts.

Southern and Network Rail need to look at better contingencies in these situations though.

  • @hstscotsman Of course I see that - if I didn't understand that I would not have hesitated to begin with.

  • You selfish idiots.

  • So...here we have the evidence of what made an already difficult journey even worse for me and 1000s of others tonight - Thanks a bundle. You're lucky none of you were killed. Complete idiots.

  • @ThePrincess0768

AFAIK, the 'ramp' they walked up contained signalling cables, some of which contain serious amounts of volts, more than enough to kill a person. They also walked within a foot of 750DC voltage. I hope they all get nicked and are made to pay out in fines for the delays they occurred. They shouldn't be allowed to use public transport, idiots.

  • @hstscotsman I never used to claim for delays, until my journey to work was frequently and consistently disrupted. I am entitled to claim for a refund but tbh, a few pounds won't make a difference. I just do it out of principle. You're right - it ISN'T the fault of the rail industry and the comment I made in the video was out of anger - pent up anger at being CONSTANTLY delayed when all I want to do is get home. Unreasonable?

  • @hstscotsman How on earth am I a disgrace specifically to photographers? That comment is irrelevant to this entire episode.

Perhaps because I have been to India and seen people hanging out of trains and walking along tracks to get to the other side of the platform that I'm slightly more desensitised to this. However, in ANY other situation, ANYONE would have done the same. Hurl all the abuse you wish to. I simply shot the video and uploaded it. There is little point having a go at me.

  • well i suppose. nonetheless, staying on the train would actually put you in the right, rather than in the helplessly-trying-to-justify-your-actions zone.

  • @tanyanagar by getting out onto the tracks you will have made the delay worse for said thousands of passengers

  • @lookupmonster You don't think I'm aware of that? What people do not seem to realise is - I got off the train AFTER most people did. Everyone in my carriage deliberated for minutes asking each other whether we should stay or not. Let's say I had stayed on the train. People had already gotten off. All I did was risk injury and make a video.

  • something along the lines of: "you utter tossers".

  • I sincerley hope you were nicked for this, idiots. For the record, the nearside rail at 0:16 was indeed 750v DC, and it was only because DC can't jump that you survived that trek.

Also, what does TfL have to do with giving you a refund? It waas none of their business that affected you, mind you, when you are thick enough to do this, I am surprised that you even know what TfL is!

  • @RangersLadForever I expected the abuse to continue over from Twitter. I already explained what happened in the description, if you had read it.

I'm not an expert on train tracks and what is live and what is not. You can just about make out the policeman explaining which line to avoid and had our lives been at risk I am certain the train driver would have warned people as that would have resulted in death.

  • @tanyanagar I work on the railways and can tell you that all 3 rails are live. Too late now though eh. You got home.

  • @RangersLadForever Since when has there been a limit on youtube comments?! Anyway, furthermore, the people who initially got off the train did so after speaking to the driver but I don't know what was said, so I can't comment on the circumstances surrounding those initial people going onto the tracks to begin with.

  • @RangersLadForever With regards to the refund - am I not correct in understanding that for any journey which is delayed by more than 15 mins, we are entitled to a refund? I pay for a season ticket for zones 1-4 and I will most certainly be filling out a refund form. In case you have forgotten, this was all the cause of someone initially jumping in front of a train (or falling.. whichever). That caused disruption to thousands of passengers.

  • @tanyanagar you caused further delay to passengers, perhaps we should forward your details on to Southern to ensure they don't refund you for delaying people, and also the people you delayed so they can claim from you? Sounds fair, eh? The delays were caused by trespassers, initially someone attempting to commit suicide but then further trespassers such as yourselves causing further delay. The cause of the delay is trespass therefore the trespassers should pay!

  • @HST43068 We should forward the details to Network Rail, Southern and Police too. Lets face it though if cctv helped put away over 1,000 rioters then 300 tresspassers will not be a problem.

  • @tanyanagar love the ignorance here. Refunds are not given genrally for circumstances beyond the control of the operator such as tresspass, suicide etc.
