Godfather- Acting, Cinematography, soundtrack- everything`s equal except the production values for Shawshank are much better.

Titanic- Vastly overrated. Di Caprio can't even compete with the leads in Shawshank and Godfather.

Lord of the Rings- The cinematography and production was absolutely gorgeous, but in the end it was just a movie about walking, interrupted by half a dozen fight scenes throughout the trilogy.

It's easy to see that Shawshank Redemption reigns supreme.

@Sh0nin Damn Straight. I found the cinematography in the Godfather to be brilliant, but the whole film was very boring - more like a stylistic documentary than anything else. No other film compares to The Shawshank Redemption. I have a feeling that no other film ever will.

I like your video very much. Since I've seen the movie many times, going through your "review" brought to mind so many of the wonderful, heart-wrenching scenes. I don't know how many awards this movie may have received but, in my book, it deserved ALL of them (just about). The song you chose brings to mind the scene where Andy, just out of the "hole", is telling his friends about having a "place to go" (in your head and heart) that's just yours, that no one can take from you.

I live in the town in Ohio where this was filmed, I just took a tour of the prison, it's so cool. My dad was a firefighter hired to stay on the movie set. He said "Capt. Hadley" was just as big an asshole on the set as he was in the movie. ...and the warden was bald, he's wearing a wig. Another fireman got picked to drive the ambulance away with Boggs in it. It didn't have an engine...they we're pulling it! It was broke down. ...he said Tim Robbins was like 6'5" or better.
