this is one of my favorite pieces to play, though he plays a little variation with chords. My version is in the book "59 piano solos you like to play"...it has 59 solos from 39 composers...a great book to get. (about intermediate level...but many of the songs are not simplified...trust me )
@SokanokuEjira That could be a good thing, as I'm learning ever so slowly. Sometimes it's better to write a shorter piece than to write a piece that just keeps going and going. I do wish this piece was longer, but your comment shows that it's so good, you want to hear more!
Though they have almost nothing in common stylistically, I'm reminded of the way Holst was able to harmonize a simple melody with such elegance. There are so many mediocre ways to voice a chord, to "correctly" structure the voice-leading in a tonal composition - the melody is simple, but it's in the shifts of register, the subtle inclusion of a second as an accented leading tone, the doubling choices, the choice of 2nd over 1st position, that give a piece like this its timeless quintessence.
@musicalidea Actually, the first few bars have some unexpected melodic turns away from the underlying harmony on the downbeats...so the melody is not actually that simple.
@lizaponyi I don't know which version of the song you play, but it was pretty easy to me because you hear the melody clearly anytime. Well, I guess by now you're better? :)
esta pieza me llega al corazón, creo que un compositor sublime es aquel que sabe hacerte sentir lo que el sintió cuando compúso su obra. excelente Zdenek Fibich
Exquisite- but it's a bit sad that with his huge output Fibich is remembered for a piece less than two minutes long......and it's an excerpt from a larger piece.
I cry when I hear this piece. Simply beautiful. There needs to be a repeat button so I can listen to it nonstop. :)

This song has a problem, it's too short.

@stecherstechersen his name Isn´t "Zdenko", but Zdeněk Fibich. He was a Prague compositor, so Czech, not Slovakian (Zdenko is Slovakian name)!
