This is really phenomenal. The recording leaves something to be desired, but if I had to make a suggestion (which I don't... but I will anyway) I'd say watch the left hand clarity around 2:10 or so.

You capture the poetic atmosphere of this piece well, I like how you phrase the melody. The balance between left and right is fine. You listen very concentrated to your own sound. However sometimes I miss a certain passion caused by a certain squareness and a lack of rubato (e.g. the climax towards 1:50).
Wenchington is a soulless idiot. Sound, or sight (or any sense, actually) brings out emotion. Emotion is not defined as one thing to all. It is defined by each of us individually. Watch a baby commercial - two people will have a different emotional reaction - it's based on your experiences in life. "Sound", as in the case of a composition is the same - it's what you as an individual pull from it that touches you.
For this pieace, that passion is not necessary. Some pieces of Chopin shoud be played quietly and classical. It tend to be boring, but it's Polish style. If you play Chopin as if you play Listz, it is againstig Chopin himselve's style, I have to say. Personally, I liked this play. I felt spiritual things from this play. Well done!!! (except the ending.)
@pohlpiano I think I didn't like between 2:30-2:31. I like it soft and very quite yet clear staccato. It's just personal preference though. I like your playing anyway! :) bravo
I agree completely. Only question is: is there emotion implicitely only within the performance and performer or it is a part of percieving process of the listener? Or rather a transferrence between both of them? I felt the emotion during my playing, honestly. Seems it transfer to someone, but not to every one. Maybe a degree of sensitivity? Or just a taste? Well, this is a music.
I have to disagree. Solo Instrumati (Solo Instrumentation) most definately does have emotion and most piano literature requires it. As a concert pianist, and a graduate of RAM, I feel I more than qualified to make this statement -- not only do I agree with it but so did Rubenstein, Argerich, Liszt, Chopin, Beethoven, Horowitz, and, oh, wait, CHOPIN!
Piano songs don't have emotion you stupid bucket mongers. It's just sound, and many times it will be different than other sound. But sound doesn't create or imbibe emotion. So pox on you.
I didn't feel the emotiom either, he needs to work on that. I've heard this piece played by so many different musicians and I think he definetely is lacking the passion. However, it is well played.
Thank you for this performance. I am trying to learn this piece and I agree that this piece is an easy piece to learn. I thought that the playing was very fluid and seamless. For me, you brought out most of the "hidden" waves of melodious ripples that are throughout the piece. I will no doubt replay this quite a few times until I myself achieve this "flowing motion". Thank you once again
That problem falls more on the microphone than the hall, altough it is fairly oversounded place. But it sounds pretty colourful if you play there, believe me. Once I would like to bring there more professional equipment for a record session. Thanks for the review and wish you play much BETTER than me in ONE YEAR ;)
Maybe, it is my bias but I don't like the sonority of piano, or the big room. Sometimes a bit aggressibe but overall, I give this a positive review (If in 3-4 years I can play as well, then I would be very fortunate)
Thank you for your review. I was trying to create imagination of flowing motion, like stream of pure water ... Don't see any strong passion in it, emotions seem to me be much more inner within that piece. But thanks for posting your opinion, I appreciate that.
Do not understand how could I show my technique in that - think the piece is quite easy and I don't play very fast, too... Really wasn't try to do that - much more possibly in the Listz Etude I also posted here ;o)

Fantastically Played. Five star rating. I am currently learning this piece. Very good voicing!
Where did you perform this piece? It looks like Roman architecture. Good Job
mayorov1 2 years ago
@mayorov1 In Olomouc, Czech Republic, one little chappel used now for concert performances, definitely not Roman, but a pure Czech baroque...

I may be absolutely atrocious when I play this piece, but I still enjoy it nonetheless.
If I could, I'd give this 5 stars.

Pianopera, you took the words right out of my fingers. Very apt and fair criticism. Thank you.

It's the passing of gas while maintaining the cadence that is key.

is it me only who thinks that he is only trying to convey his technical proficiency?
he's good, but i guess i can't really feel the emotion attached to the playing.
