@IAMFLAKY1 I have never had a trap hurt or main an animals foot. I have snapped my hands in my traps and I still have all my fingers. No broken bones, cuts, etc.
you say you are going to do a full body mount , you should put a picture up of the mount if you could. i really would like to see it. awesome catch, love the black coyote
my dad killed a coyote similar to this one except it was completely black except for a little spot on his neck that was white, he shot it with a 223 and we got it full body mounted. 2 days later a old friend of my dads killed a black one at the same location, there was another one but we haven't seen it in a while. killed them both in south east Indiana
very awsome coyote..i see your nick is gatrapper..does this mean your from georgia? and is this the state you caught the black coyote..never ever seen one in ohio..but i sure would love to see 1 in the scope of my ar..thanks for the cool video.
The black coloration in coyotes and wolves originated in domestic dogs-- or protodogs, the wolves that associated themselves with people, 40,000 to 50,000 years ago.
It was reintroduced through cross-breeding between wolves and dogs, and dogs and coyotes, In wolves, it appeared 10,000 to 15,000 years ago
so crazie man...just saw one tonight in the park woods behind my apartments...he was stalking me and my son...was standing 20 foot from us justs staring when i turned around.. i was totaly startled...had my two rottweilers there on leash ....man this thing was very brave!
congrads good looking yote there. ready to get started come dec1. hope to catch me some yotes this year.Deer hunting is about over ready to start setting.
Very nice, rare melanistic coyote. Ain't trying to step all over your efforts or anything, but you might get more of them nice black ones if you let the black ones live for a couple or three years. ;)
@theonlyrel Very true. That one appears to be a true blue black, not the usual oilslick shade that many black yotes are. I'd have saved him for breeding stock to make more really nice blacks like him.
That's one to be mounted for sure.

And was he released? What was the point in setting a trap for it? Was it attacking people or have rabies?
JohnDoe0722 1 year ago

So, do you just dig a hole and put the trap in the bottom with some bait? Could you use the same method to catch raccoons?

@theonlyrel i know there are color phases & what not silver, black, red
white & so on i said black but ment melanistic but ive also herd that some
if not most of the black yotes with white feet/breast & even the white
phase yotes have domestic dogs in there bloodlines??? most pics
or videos of dead black/white yotes were harvested not far from houses
or small town settings... do you think all these black yotes are melanistic
or have domestic dogs blood in them???
