DAZ Studio beginner tutorial 1

Can someone please explain to me how to get extra characters into daz3d. I recently downloaded a creature pack via torrent and i do not know what to do with the files.Is there somewhere specific I need to place them?Somebody please help!

Hi Dreamlioght, thanks so much for this. I am just starting out in 3D and finding it all a bit difficult, not being the sharpest knife in the draw but you make this easy to follow and set up. Looking forward to the next part.

Daz Studio look good, I am also working with Carerra, SketchUp and Anime Studio to try and produce some animations.

A Program like DAZ Studio can be used to create 3D Human Models in a virtual scene. Personaly I use it to create my Virtual Girls Wallpapers.

I try to do things and I keep getting an error message that says "this action requires an item within the scene to be selected". Can anyone please help me? When installing, make sure you direct the installer to a valid DAZ Studio content folder. (DAZ3D/DAZStudio3/content). When loading the character, go to your content tab, and locate content/Figures/DAZ People/ - then double click on the Aiko4 icon. Also, make sure that the content folder you installed to is found by DAZ Studio - check the Edit->Preferences->Directories menu.

How do i insert figures?

You need to install them first. You can then find them in the content tab under Figures / DAZ people. If you can´t see that tab, go to tabs and select the content tab to get it to show up.

You need to load the V4 model first from the content tab (Figures / DAZ People). Then select V4 in the Scene tab - and then apply the morph.

It means that the action you clicked on requires an item in the scene to be selected first. For instance, a Victoria 4 pose would need a Victoria 4 model to be selected.

There is a starter pack, but i don´t think that´s for free. You can buy models as cheap as $1.99 if you´re a platinum member of DAZ 3D.

when you go to the Daz website or Cnet, you can download the latest version for free and it comes with Victoria installed. On the website you can also download MIchael v4 and Victoria v5 for free.

The layout of the program is different than what is seen here and I'm still trying to figure it all out.

Sorry, DAZ Studio is not a modeller.

However, you can try Hexagon. The Modeler i would recommend is Lightwave.

how do you change your display settings to 32-bit color? please reply

If using Win XP, right click on the desktop, select the selection at the bottom (not sure what that is in english - properties?)

Then, when the new window appears, select the settings tab (most right) and then select 32 bit color mode. Both your graphics card and monitor must be compatible with 32 bit mode to be able to use this.

Is this similar to Carrara 7 in anyway because I was hoping DAZ Studio was similar so I could make a seamless transition to Carrara 7 or Carrara 7 Pro?

Carrara and DAZ Studio are completely different 3D applications. The latter being free. Hower, with version 7 - Carrara really takes a giant step closer in integrating DAZ Studio content - as well as scenes - directly being openable and editable from within Carrara.

There are ways - by using morphs on base characters, to tranform a character to look exactly the way you want it too. Character creation from scratch is a very involved subject, and requires additional software. View some of the possibilities atthe DAZ3D gallery.

Can you describe exacly what you did?

To what folder did you install the content to? To view content in DAZ Studio, you go to the content tab. If that´s empty, then you have probably installed to a different folder. You can search and add content folders via the Preferences - > Directories - > Add menu.
