Had you removed your recovery partition when you got your computer? If so, you will get this message, and in answer to your question, this isn't bad. This is a disaster.
when u try to restore to factory settings on a pavillion using discs, it failed. I resorted to the discs because the D:partition where the HDD recovery files were, it seems were infected or corrupted. In the inde did not recover, The error: Do not turn off PC while recovery in progress DISPLAYS eternally and it is frozen. HP techs were not much help.
i have the same problem and i didnt delete or even touch the partition, i tried a system restore and that didnt work , and my computer has alot of problems rigth now. please tell me how you fixed it asap
There's a 12gb in your recovery partition that either has been deleted or corrupted. I've seen this before. A fix is if you have recovery discs already created restore your computer and the partition will be recreated, or if you know someone with the same model computer, get an external HDD and copy that 12gb file from his partition to yours.
@elieromano hello brother please help me.i have same problem.and now i delete that recovery partition.i got a set of recovery from my friend for same model.but dont know how to recover it cuz its not showing on my com. :(
@shailube you probably don't have the dvd drive set as your primary boot device. what you want to do is look at the screen when you first boot your computer, at the HP logo you'll see a function button to press to get the boot menu loaded. I'm almost certain it's F9. When you get the menu select the dvd drive (with the first recovery disc loaded) and you should be fine from there on out.
I have the HP m8300f and i had the same issue its cause i bought mine used at circuit city the reason for this is either a set of recovery disk's have already been made cause each vista PC is limited to 1 set of recovery disk so your best bet would be to call HP customer service and buy a set of recovery disk.and also when you go to Computer (My Computer) Make sure you have this drive

FACTORY_IMAGE
mine is 9.51 GB but some are bigger if you have it make sure it is not corrupted/deleted
If it is you have a problem and you need to look at the HP buyer's manual and figure out how to trouble shoot it

Your recovery partition has been deleted/corrupted.
But you know what, why even bother recovering your PC to factory settings when it's just gonna be filled with bloatware, etc?
Just download Vista(or even XP) off a torrent, and it'll run much faster then it would if it was filled with crapware.
