Hey Sean, The bank footage in this at 2:20 is truly incredible footage. Hope all is going well my friend. I was just checking out some of your channel footage. That camera that you are using {I assume it is the one that you picked up at the tale end of the Japan trip} takes pristine HD video and audio. I must look into buying one. Talk to you soon, Rob
You are correct about the camera. I purchased it within the last couple of hours I was in Japan. It's been a great camera although it has been acting up lately. I may get another HD cam sometime this year.
@CoolioJoe100 - Thanks. Try watching it in a different resolution. I also noticed the frame rate has dropped in the last week or so., ever since I updated Flash. If I play the video in 480p it runs smoother, however, you lose the HD.
@greatplanesman - Thank you. b-roll is a term used when using "secondary" footage for a project. It also can mean any footage edited into or around a segment of "main" footage.
Yes, but normally you only call it b-roll when it's placed over the master clip (A-roll), like when someone is talking I.E. about the numerous hills on Prowler, and fast transitions. :)
@greatplanesman - You are correct. That's what I tried to say in my first comment. =:^) At one time I had planned on editing the POV of this ride with some of the shots but I didn't have the HD version. The same goes for the Intimidator footage I shot last Friday.
I love the wooden coaster at Powerpark although it is very different than Prowler. I think you may be confusing the Prowler with Evel Knievel at Six Flags St. Louis which has the same layout as Thunderbird.
everything was great in this video except the editing. it really annoyed me. it would always start too much before the coaster came in the shot, and then would stay on the frame for longer than it needed after the coaster had left the frame. itsa just that little detail that bugged me a bit. but great recording and footage and awesome quality!
I did originally edit this video with quicker edits but it didn't sound right. I opted to include the before-and-after sustain as part of the edit as I felt it had a very unique sound that came out way too choppy with quick edits. I even tried to fade the sound in at one point but it sounded artificial.
It's in a class by itself. While it does have that GCI feel, the majority of the ride is quite different than anything they have done before. It doesn't let up.
A little too fast for a wood coaster? It's not even one of the fastest wood coasters in the world. It only hits 51 mph. 45-55 mph is common for a wood coaster. There's quite a few wood coasters that hit 65 mph. The world's fastest wood coaster is Son of Beast at Kings Island in Ohio, which reaches 78 mph (now that's a little too fast for a wood coaster).
Wow, another great videos, you should be getting a ton more views. Does the park let you go in restricted areas? Because it always seems like your in places they don't let the general public. Is all you have to do is ask?
For the video above and the Pilgrims Plunge video we had a tour guide at each park. The friend I was with on the trip was taking pictures for a magazine and had pre-arranged everything months in advance. He took the stills. I took the video.
