I have a friend of Chinese origin who is 21, who got told by a bouncer that she looked 12. Her mum once got ID'd for buying alcohol when she was 45!!! Anyone saying they're underage because they don't look like western 16 year-olds is just being silly.
TBH, I think that making the age requirement 16 is just stupid. The juniors train as much as the seniors so it doesn't stop them overtraining at a young age, it just takes away a good 2 years of their (very short) competitive careers

@CobbChallengerGirls I think they dropped the highest and lowest scores, which they do for every score, and then they were tied, so they dropped the next lowest score and Kexin was slightly ahead (Kexin had two 9.1's and a 9.0, Nastia had two 9.0's and a 9.1). They both had a 7.7 start value so yeah. Kexin was definitely my favourite of the two though :).

Idisagree. Koko Tsrumi looks younger than these girls. HKX and YYL both went through growth spurts right after Olympics, you're right, but so did Shawn Johnson. Why aren't we doubting her? What "signs" are you talking about? YYL and HKX were both at senior meets in 2007 and YYL was at WORLDS and no one doubted her then, probably because they didn't think she would medal. You may not care about the medals, but you can bet USAG does.

I agree. I was routing for Nastia but it's quite clear she has obvious faults (ones that are much easier to spot than He Kexin) Both gymnasts has major faults (He's kip Nastia's legs.) It's the judges job to decide who is better, not anyone else's.

This is a great routine in terms of difficulty and excitement. Sure, it isnt perfect, but Ive come to realize that the days of perfect gymnastics are long gone. I havent seen any since like 96?
Personally, Id rather see more stuck landings, moderate difficulty and perfectly executed skills than extreme difficulty and highly questionable form. It seems we are just settling for the *best of the worst* these days, and its getting on my nerves.
You're right. That whole head bob thing is something I've come to associate with a lot of Chinese bar workers now. I really don't see that a lot from bar workers from other countries--just the Chinese. Yang Yilin does it, and even Ling Jie who was second to Svetlana Khorkina in the UB EF in 2000 does it. It looks really weird. o_O
the nastia/yang yilin style is different from the he kexin/tweddle style. both have different strengths and focuses; both have insane amounts of difficulty. I appreciate both but it is a matter of personal preference too I guess.

Kexin's bar work is much much prettier than Liukin's! Liukin's ugly form with flexed feet, flat feet, unpointed toes, separate legs, and hugely separated frog-like dismount are really ugly! Liukin always cheats to make her landing, because she knows that separated legs and unpointed toes make her landing much easier. She has done this trick for years, and she is the most overscored bars worker in the world. Look at Kexin's landing with legs stick together and toes pointed!
I completely agree! Nastia's double layout was somehow 'inconsistent' according to Tim Daggett. He Kexin won a well deserved gold. We all know her form breaks in the finals were FLUKES. I also agree with youcleverguy, compared to He's, Nastia's difficulty should be like a 5.5. Her spins have absolutely NO flow!
it was "inconsistent" because the taller you are the harder it is to maintain that laid out shape. I think that in a few years yang yilin might have to ditch the DLO too because even now it is very archy and flingy (that is only if she grows)

Every time i watch a Chinese athlete on the bars i'm absolutely blown away!! They are incredible. I'm a loyal American who is extremely proud of our gymnastics team, but I'm glad the Chinese team was able to prove that they are of age. They all seem so nice and very supportive of the other medallists. Congratulations on your impressive wins team China!!!!
The ONLY thing about most of the chinese bar workers (Kexin, Yilin etc) That I do not like is they tend to muscle their kip to cast handstands. But other than that absolutely amazing.

none of them were at their top form i think (especially nastia, she had already competed in so many events for the americans). this is my reason for Yang not to have been scored well-well, part of my reason at least.
Truth is the way i saw, the only true bar workers with Kexin and Tweddle. Yang and Luikin were more artistry. Either type was good, but i prefered Kexin and Tweddle.

We trust that the IOC has fully investigated the matter and that their decision should be accepted as truth.

This is a great routine in terms of difficulty and excitement. Sure, it isnt perfect, but Ive come to realize that the days of perfect gymnastics are long gone. I havent seen any since like 96?
Personally, Id rather see more stuck landings, moderate difficulty and perfectly executed skills than extreme difficulty and highly questionable form. It seems we are just settling for the *best of the worst* these days, and its getting on my nerves.

You're right. That whole head bob thing is something I've come to associate with a lot of Chinese bar workers now. I really don't see that a lot from bar workers from other countries--just the Chinese. Yang Yilin does it, and even Ling Jie who was second to Svetlana Khorkina in the UB EF in 2000 does it. It looks really weird. o_O

the nastia/yang yilin style is different from the he kexin/tweddle style. both have different strengths and focuses; both have insane amounts of difficulty. I appreciate both but it is a matter of personal preference too I guess.

Although I'm Romanian, and I love my team, I really have to go with Kexin on this one. =] She was really good, and her form was... very precise. I can only imagine the years of work put in to complete this routine.

Kexin's bar work is much much prettier than Liukin's! Liukin's ugly form with flexed feet, flat feet, unpointed toes, separate legs, and hugely separated frog-like dismount are really ugly! Liukin always cheats to make her landing, because she knows that separated legs and unpointed toes make her landing much easier. She has done this trick for years, and she is the most overscored bars worker in the world. Look at Kexin's landing with legs stick together and toes pointed!

I completely agree! Nastia's double layout was somehow 'inconsistent' according to Tim Daggett. He Kexin won a well deserved gold. We all know her form breaks in the finals were FLUKES. I also agree with youcleverguy, compared to He's, Nastia's difficulty should be like a 5.5. Her spins have absolutely NO flow!

it was "inconsistent" because the taller you are the harder it is to maintain that laid out shape. I think that in a few years yang yilin might have to ditch the DLO too because even now it is very archy and flingy (that is only if she grows)

Who said that Chinese gov. is perfect? No gov. is perfect!It's so annoying that some americans always drag Chinese gov. in whenever they talk about any China/Chinese related topics. They think it's perfect alright to insult Chinese gymnasts as long as they mention its gov. It's deep bias and racism disguised and hidden under the blanket of anti-communism. This tactic has been used and is still being used by media and some anti-chinese people. Maybe it's almost unconcious that you don't know it!

beth的转体很少有在10度范围内完成的。虽然她转体动作不多，但每个转体都要被扣分。而且她每个手倒立前都有分腿，所以她攒的A分并不能给她多大便宜。当然她的连接给人很大的想象空间，中国运动员马上会采用的。但是你要都把credit给beth,我建议你看看刘璇2000年cottbus的UB套。她们都作的腾跃加转体180，都是混合握法，但是刘璇做的可是并腿的。

Every time i watch a Chinese athlete on the bars i'm absolutely blown away!! They are incredible. I'm a loyal American who is extremely proud of our gymnastics team, but I'm glad the Chinese team was able to prove that they are of age. They all seem so nice and very supportive of the other medallists. Congratulations on your impressive wins team China!!!!

The ONLY thing about most of the chinese bar workers (Kexin, Yilin etc) That I do not like is they tend to muscle their kip to cast handstands. But other than that absolutely amazing.

Despite Nastia and He have the same start score He's routine is more difficult and more spectacular .... Nastia did more strategic and less spectacular routine ... I am happy that He Kexin won although I am a fan of Nastia!

i m an american, and i don't agree. nastia liukin was good, but she just simply wasn't good enough to won the gold. he kexin, even if she did take a step forward, she is still the rightful winner. and the age controversy is just dumb, another ploy by the americans to make the chinese look bad. grow up americans.

well no matter how much a lot of people want it to be changed, it cant be. and the age controversy is over, now there are only 2 gymnastics being questioned for age, yang yun and dong fangxiao from the syndey olympics 2000 chinese team

mokkyboo, no one mentioned the controversy, so you didn't need to. I agree though, it doesn't matter if they are underage or not. Kexin was awesome on her routine. The rule that I think is bad is that both of them tied so it's silly that only one can get gold. But I think Yilin executed better, even if her routine isn't as thrilling as Kexin's. And yes, the investigation is over so EVERYONE should drop it, because Americans aren't the only ones who bring it up

ya, she rocked. she really was underscored, yang yilin. but then the judges look for creativity as well, so maybe her routine was not exciting enough, but she was still underscored.

and i just reread my last comment realized and it made it seem like i didn't think he kexin deserved gold. but i also agree with you that he kexin was the rightful winner. and i think instead of nastia tying with her, yang should have tied with her. i just think it's sad that they have to use such a confusing tie breaker to decide olympic medals.

none of them were at their top form i think (especially nastia, she had already competed in so many events for the americans). this is my reason for Yang not to have been scored well-well, part of my reason at least.

Truth is the way i saw, the only true bar workers with Kexin and Tweddle. Yang and Luikin were more artistry. Either type was good, but i prefered Kexin and Tweddle.
