I was in An Khe in 1969 assigned to HHC of 4/60 Artillery (Dusters and Quads). We were not to far from the artillery at the bottom of the hill. Thanks for the memories.
I was on the hill during 1968, leaving in Dec; assigned to the 586th Sig Co. The road was built during 1968. A path thru the jungle or a helo ride from base camp was the only way up before the road. Road was mostly unusuable during the rains.
Great Stuff! I arrived Camp Radcliff in Feb 1970 when the 1st Bde, 4th ID made the move from Pleiku. Got assigned to Sector 5, perimeter defense and lived in a bunker about 400-500 meters down from the summit along a finger to the SSW. Driving a deuce-an-a-half up and down that road was always a treat...;-). "Thanks for the memories" and may God Bless all who serve.
I was assigned to Hong Cong Mountain 1970-1971 as an Air Traffic Approach Controller . To all the gang , Mike, Ped, Jay, Rios , Jack, Frog, Terry and Sarge Herron the best in life and thanks for defending our country. ININ Out
My father was radar control on top of Hon Kong Mountain 1969-1970. Lots of interesting photos and stories, especially in regard to the road to the top and bottom mentioned in this video.
I spent the month of Dec. 1967 on this mountain. Me and 4 other troopers relaid the 1st Cav Patch on the side of the mountain. 13th Signal Bn. 1st Cav.
