In fact, rhinoceros horn is made of keratin. The same as your fingernails. It grows back. Both animals do use their horns/tusks for protection although it does not protect them from bullets.

Is anyone working on any other solutions?

I just had a thought is all..

It might sound mean, but poachers kill elephants for the ivory. Wouldn't it save elephant's lives if the tusks were cut off short. The same for rhinos. Remove the horns and tusks and they wouldn't be killed.

@uzoouk Well I bet its not easy,but they COULD tranqualize them then take the horns off but they would probably need a long lasting tranqualizer

But once they remove the horn or tusks, it will never grow back.

It will also risk their survival because Elephants need their tusks to help forage food and to defend themselves.

Same is for rhinos. So cutting off an elephant's or rhino's tusks/horns off or killing them, they will still end up dying.
