Wow, haven't heard the original opening theme in like 2 decades !

And I didn't even know THIS was by Kajagoogoo ! I bought the first run

DVD and was shocked to hear the opening theme was changed.

Anyone knows wether or not this track was put back in the re-issue

DVD or a possible Bluray ? Thanks for uploading this ! Brings back

memories when i'd watch Sixteen Candles religiously on cable in

the 1980s ^_^

@Grooveraider They did release another version of this film with all of the original music in it. On the cover it says "Containing all of the original music in film" I'm not sure if the blu-ray has the original music though, check reviews on amazon. And the same thing happened to me, I purchased the first run of these copies and the music was changed.

@levanyzzuf I agree, the version in the movie has some sax layed upon it, which in my opinion makes it sound less like a demo, and more or less a coherent intro. This is the melody, but the sax added so much more. Still a great instrumental, though. A classic movie, for sure. :D

Dang, can't believe I went this long without knowing who did this song! If it was licensed instead of composed/performed especially for the soundtrack that might explain why it wasn't on the soundtrack album or the first version of the DVD (it's more than a little 'WTF?!?' when not only some of the background tuneage but the actual opening theme gets replaced on the DVD).

@hlcdrum2 Oh sure. It's an instrumental song, with a similar background, synths and beat....but there is a saxaphone that plays throughout. Unlike this. No singing at all. If I had a VHS converter software I'd post. Don't know who does it.
