I actually agree with Probot - it's called social darwinism. It doesn't matter how many laws are passed in the United States children will keep finding ways to bully others. Very sad but foolhardy laws by guilt ridden parents are not the answer. Children must be taught that life is not fair and be equiped with appropriate coping skills at a very early age. In order to protect her family Mommy should have gotten rid of the computer and done more for her son who was obviously suffering from depression. Opening the door for gov. only makes it easier for them to create future restrictions. BTW I was bullied too. My family helped me get through it. I am stronger for it.

A few months after this news video was aired, Robert created an internet page entitled "BooHoo Your Son Killed Himself", which he used to mock--and invite others to mock--Jeffrey's mother. When Debra called Robert's father to complain, the man got angry and told her that if she accused his son of one more thing, he was going to contact the authorities.
It seems to me that this remorseless kid is perhaps partly the result of horrible parenting.

A lot can happen in a year, which means perhaps something else triggered this?! Jeff's mother was a teacher at the school in which this took place, I bet there was more she could have done. It's to bad they didn't show the entire interview Robert, myself, and another friend gave for this piece, it would show a totally different side of the story!

As a LOVING friend of robert and fellow classmate of both him and jeff all of you people on here need to know a few things. 1. it was ALOT more than just one person who brought jeff to such a low point. 2. He committed suicide his Sophmore year.... 2 years since any of us went to school together. 3. this interview showed 2 minutes out of a hour long interview about the situation so it by nooo means tells the whole story.

Also wanted to add that adults get prosecuted for stalking/harassment/battery (pushing someone, which Roemmick did) all the time. He's lucky he skated by on not being prosecuted for the battery. Nothing Robert said was a lie. I DO NOT wish to speak ill of the dead and Jeff's passing was a terrible, terrible tragedy BUT there is a HUGE side of the story not being told. The interview Robert gave lasted about 30 minutes and those few seconds were the only shown because their piece would have been completely ruined if Roberts side of the story was heard.

Jeff Johnston has been my best friend since I was 5 years old. I know all too well what Robert did to him, And let me point out a fact. In this video, Robert says hes called Jeffs mother and apologized, THIS IS A LIE!!!! He told a bold faced LIE to NATIONAL TV. I hope he rots in Hell. NOT just robert...so No jeffs death should not be placed on roberts concious alone. I remeber us all in middle school and I can name a handful of other people who contributed to jeffs torment. I actually agree with Probot - it's called social darwinism. It doesn't matter how many laws are passed in the United States children will keep finding ways to bully others. It's human nature to weed out the weak and celebrate the strong. I was bullied for most of my life and still am, but it's made me a better and stronger person for it. I can take most of the shit that comes my way because I learned to cope and deal with the fact that not everyone is going to like me or do things my way.

This was a very moving story.I have tremendous admiration for Jeffry's mother and I am certain this law will make a difference. The lack of remorse from the bully is seriously disturbing .The bullies need help (and it needs to be compulsory !) in order to develop empathy and compassion.If only other teens could band together and develop the inner strength needed to prevent bullying and protect each other.

Very sad but foolhardy laws by guilt ridden parents are not the answer. Children must be taught that life is not fair and be equiped with appropriate coping skills at a very early age. In order to protect her family Mommy should have gotten rid of the computer and done more for her son who was obviously suffering from depression. Opening the door for gov. only makes it easier for them to create future restrictions. BTW I was bullied too. My family helped me get through it. I am stronger for it.
