As i mentioned, i really like some of Noels acoustic numbers and i think Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory are good albums but in the greater context of music they are far from genius. I play guitar mainly as a hobby and i'm at least as good a guitarist as Noel and i don't consider myself good at all.

@YagamiSpain I think you need to go look up the definition of the word genius. Although i do like a few of Noels acoustic numbers, they are both nothing more than a pair of uneducated, childish and quite frankly mediocre musicians. The only thing that got them famous was a pair of distorted guitars and some attitude which soon got very old. People who say Oasis are genius have a very narrow view on music.

People who have mastered instruments and are deserving of the word genius. 10 yearold Spanish kids who would make people like Noel Gallagher look like they'd only picked a guitar up for the first time. @hotelthehookers I listen to all kinds of music. From Pink Floyd to Rage Against The Machine. From Blues and Jazz to a little Rap. As i mentioned, i really like some of Noels acoustic numbers and i think Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory are good albums but in the greater context of music they are far from genius. I play guitar mainly as a hobby and i'm at least as good a guitarist as Noel and i don't consider myself good at all.

@LowdenFretter anyway,mate,it is subjective,but for me noel has written some great pieces of music.when I name sb a good guitarist,I mean he can make good music,not play insanely difficult solos.what I mean is that it is a different thing to be able to play wonderwall than to write it.I also adore radiohead,and they have some songs that are easy to play as well,but are incredibly beautiful as tunes.

@hotelthehookers It is not subjective at all. Put simply, Noel Gallagher is not a genius in any sense of the word in any aspect of his life. You can't go around redefining words simply to suit you. Whether in rock n roll or whatever, genius refers to someone with exceptional intellectual ability, creativity or originality. Noel Gallagher displays none of those traits. I understand you like him and that's fine. But genius? Come on. Give yourself a shake chief.

I imagine a lot of other rock stars who said they liked Oasis when asked in interviews were probably just being polite and not wanting to get involved in the media shit that comes with saying you don't like them. Were Oasis good? Yes. Are they geniuses? Hell no, far from it. That is a matter of fact, not opinion.
