Makes sense to me. Why homogenize our children into a hate filled world based off of hypocrisy while trying to fight an unjust system that wants to kill them? Why doesn't society just leave our children alone? Are they afraid of there autonomy? School is for keeping tabs on childrens and where abouts and drama not education. How much education do you need to be trapped into working at Wal Mart or McDonalds? American society is sick, sick, sick!
@cool22able I'd suggest watching all of my So You Want to Unschool? videos. You will quickly see that homeschool curriculum is not something I support. The point of unschooling is to allow your children to play and learn naturally, without forcing your agenda onto them. Turn off the TV and trust that they will learn what they need by following their interests.
I have just become fascinated with unschooling, but I notice a lot of unschoolers have no rules in their house but it doesn't seem that way with your son, he seems very smart and kind.
@TheTravelfool Please reexamine why you believe children need to have "rules". We do not have "rules" in our home that my son is forced to follow but that I do not have to. We have strong principles of love, respect for self, all people and all living things and we have mutual agreements. My son's needs come first, and a strong parent-child connection is my priority, as is his happiness, freedom and joy- That is why he is so kind and brilliant.
@LaurieACouture By rules I mean only ones to keep a child safe and clean. For ex, there is a video of 4 yr old unschoolers who choose if they want to brush their teeth. This is unhealthy, and can lead to gum disease/other problems for the child. Or a rule like no running after a ball in the street. I don't believe in rules where they are made to make the adults life easier, those rules backfire and make children unhappy.
@TheTravelfool But rules are still unnecessary. If one of the principles of your family is to treat yourself with love and respect, then tooth brushing would be part of taking care of one's body. If you set a rule, it is an obstacle the child will either do against their will or refuse to do. If it is a principle, then the child sees self care as a natural part of daily life. I disagree with parents who don't show care to their children's appearance and cleanliness, but rules overpower a child.
@LaurieACouture I looked into independent schools, they have 4 in my area (although 1 is an hour from my house). Two are for younger children and two are for teenagers. I am seeing if I can get involved with them to learn from them over the weekends. I can't thank you enough for your videos and helping me see the light. As for French, they "choose" a language (Spanish, French, etc) but they are still forced to learn a language. You're right, that's not learning. Thanks again :)

Instead of medicating and punishing, there are other positive methods of getting the most from our learners. Excellently Presented!
