  • John Cale was the true genius behind the Velvet´s sound. Considering his further role in producing the debuts of The Stooges, Patti Smith and The Modern Lovers, and practically composing most of Nico´s Marble Index and Desertshore his role in the world of rock is still being mainly ignored: simply The Godfather Of Alternative Music!

  • I actually prefer this version to the original. So much more haunting. Sounds so archaic, dusty, buried...

  • This version really stands strongly on its own as a song. Utterly love it.

  • which date it was first ever recorded as a demo? can somebody answer?

  • @rochebraziliano

A simple Google search reveals 1965.

Thank you poster for uploading this. It is an old favorite.

  • @djl548 its just after wild thing by THE TROGGS. thank you for let me know

  • IMO this middle ages arrangment is better than the one in the album

  • is this from the peel slowly and see boxset?

  • @sodr2 Yeah, it's the first track from the first disc.

  • @ladygodiva65 word i just finished dl'ing the entire thang.....really good song here though...reminds me of lord of the rings or something of that nature.......

  • Wow. Gotta take your word for it that it's John Cale singing... I'm glad he developed a deeper tone.

    Great demo.
