You don't have to use an eye-to-eye length of friction cord, infact I'd say that they are probably the worst things to use, you generally end up with massive tails (the shorter the tails on your hitch-climber set up the better) and they cost ruinour amount of money, also some friction cord works well with some climbing lines and some doesn't, so buy 1.5 meter lengths, tie two sliding fisherman's knots (one per end) and see which one grips best. Don't spend £20 on friction cord.
All the listed parts to set this up arrived yesterday, using a good quality climbing line also, I have watched this video over and over!!!! I have set the system up perfectly nothing out of place and rubber to keep it tidy as mentioned, However I am a bit unhappy with spending £65 pounds on something that will not replace a simple prussik loop which I use to climb ropes! is this system NOT for climbing up ropes,or is it only positioning when in the tree?finding it difficult to pull with power
@maxinpains : if you have never climbed trees then you will never know how nice this pulley is. if you have and you don't see the advantages of this pulley - i feel sorry for you.

I was climbing oce and this guy was just talking with us and threw in a couple of questions about knots. Two hours later we heard this almighty crash like a boulder falling from the fifty metre cliff! He had tied an ordinary poly rope to a tree (incorrectly) using a knot I had described to him. He tied his son to his chest to abseil together. He had to have both legs amputated because he was holding the weight of both of them when they fell to the ground and his leg bones were shattered.
I use the distal, which uses the micro pulley and caribeener set up. During my climbs I pull I am tied to my rope with a caribeener and I am tied to my pulley set up. This set up looks as if the only thing holding you is the one caribeener.. no thanks.
always make sure you know what your doing. just cuz u watch a video online dont mean you know how to rappel. DONT DO ANYTHING UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING. THS IS SO YOU DONT KILL YOURSELF. IF YOU ARE SOME NERD WHO THINKS IT WILL BE COOL TO RAPPEL OUT OF A HELICOPTER, BUT YOU WANT PRACTICE, DONT DO IT. GOOD CHANCE THAT U DONT KNOW WHAT U R DOING. IT IS OK, HOWEVER FOR EXPERIENCED CLIMBERS ( YOU KNOW HOW TO LEAD AND HAVE DONE SO, BECAUSE ITS KINDA SIMPLE TO KNOW HOW) DONT BE STUPID, BE SAFE
I prefer having my hitch far away so when i am decending / branch walking it gives me better balance. it does make it annoying if you want to move up just a couple of inches tho.
man what a creepy voice

What is the advantage of the pulley and extra biners? I just use a prusik and it gives me all the advantages I ever need like a quick split-tail.

@Ohiocuplax This set-up is not for rappelling - is used for moving around and work-positioning in a tree

why is the hitch so far away from the pulley? It seems to cause too much wasted movement.
