  • Cheer for the help dude i didn't have a clue what i was doing im in collage n i zoned out when he was talking i have no dea what to do :L

  • Everythings working great thanks for the help. But I had one more question. How do u fade out a midi track..?

  • @MauriceMosbyJr7 If you like t make a midi fade you can take controller 7. It's the midi controller for main volume. However you can't control every instrument with all midi controllers or in other words the instrument needs to accept the controller. However most instruments do.

But I would recommend you to use audio fades only (within your instrument's audio tracks). They are much smoother. With midi you have only 127 steps.

  • AND HOW DO YOU GET GROOVE AGENT TO PLAY FROM YOUR COMPUTER KEYBOARD?????????????

  • @MauriceMosbyJr7 If I remember right this loopmash version only started playing when you started playing your song (space bar). Or maybe your sound settings are wrong? Or maybe you didn't laod any preset/loop into loopmash?

  • Is your keyboard already working with other instruments/plugins? If not I can't help you, sry. Must be a problem with your KeyBoard or your interface. Or make sure that all settings under device are correct.

Otherwise if you are using groove agent in the instruments rack (F11) you have to create a midi track which is connected to GA (in case Cubase doesn't do it for you) Also enable all GA audio outputs in the rack (F11). Make sure you don't have muted your GA audio tracks.

  • I CANT GET A SIGNAL FOR LOOPMASH

  • AND HOW DO YOU RECORD WHAT YOU MADE IN LOOPMASH? OR GROOVE AGENT?

  • @MauriceMosbyJr7 Playing LoopMash live (and recording) works via midi. But you first have to save different changes to your pads below (the red record button within loopmash). Then simply change these preset by hitting or recording the c1 to C2 keys if I remember right (now its the C0 to C1 Key).

BTW: Cubase 6 LM is much more powerful you can now control other things and do scratches little granular synthesis etc (without setting up presets first)

  • HOW DID U SAVE THE SOUNDS U MADE FROM LOOPMASH AND LOADED THEM ON GROOVE AGENT ONE?????????????????????????????? U TOTALLY LOST ME THERE

  • @MauriceMosbyJr7 Actually you don't need to save the sounds. Just consider loopmash as a standard instrument like a synth. So at best also use an instrument track for loopmash.

If you like to use your LM loops in other samplers syntsh, wahtsoever, just export your LM track as audio file like you would also do with any other instrument. For this mark an area you'd like to export and goto files/export/audio mixdown...

  • Why is it when I have LoopMash open I can't hear the loop when I press play? I can hear everything else but not LoopMash...?

  • @FunkyMonkeyMachine Maybe you have muted the LoopMash track? Or maybe all loops within loopmash are muted? Actually it's hard to tell without further info, it can be several reasons. Also check your routing. Maybe you have routed your loopmash track to a group which does not exist anymore?

  • i would have watched this video if the loop wasn't so G'damn annoying

  • I'm new to cubase 5

I was a fl studio user, and making drums in fl studio is so easy. but in cubase its a whole different stretch. Is loop mash good for drums ?

  • @PdubzCrew LoopMash is a tool to create crazy new loops by slizing and rearranging your loops.

For Drums use Groove Agent. Hit F11 load Groove Agent into an empty slot and create a new MIDI Track. Add some drum samples to the pads (via drag&drop). Now open either the Drum editor or the Key editor or just start live recording. To add FX to the audio outputs of groove agent hit F3.

  • @YummyBeatsClips

thank you for the tip ! live recording is so hard lol...well for me it is lol

  • how to put this loop into the arranger ?

  • @tushar223 At best open a standard instrument track for loopmash. If you like to make an audio track out of it, you have to mixdown your loopmash track then. So at best just consider loopmash as a normal sampler plugin.

  • loops?really dude?its very annoying to work with stuff you didnt make then remix it with your own drums and then saying yo i made this........cubase just isnt good for hiphop ahahahaha come on dude

  • @zonemod

    1. Cubase is a DAW. So it's good for every genre. Furthermore it is still one of the best DAWs on the marked.

    2. Loops are tools like samples or synths. The point is how you work with your tools. I mean do you just copy or do you create something own. Didn't you know that the origin of hip hop was sampling or rapping to whole loops or parts from old vinyls?

  • @zonemod BTW: you can still make own loops and use e.g. granular synthesis or LoopMash to make them more interesting if you rather like to do 100% own stuff.

  • sounds worst than e-jay!

  • does loopmash come with cubase 5 essential? i cant seem to find it...

  • CAN YOU PLEASE MAKE A TUTORIAL ONLY TO SHOW ME AND OTHER PEOPLE HOW YOU DO THE PROCESS TO RECORD THE LOOPMASH PLEASE?

  • I get lost when you get to the actual recording part. Are you recording that on your own? You just say "Now record" and it just records the kick by itself when you click record.

Could you explain this further please?

  • @WesKhan So I guess you do record it yourself and loopmash is just used to help "think of" beats? Then you manually just record it with your keyboard?

Sorry I'm really new to this. I just can't seem to arrange my stuff to all sound on beat when I try to make a song. Like for example, my recording might not end where I want it to or might sound slightly off, then I don't know how to edit it to piece everything together and make it sound good. Any advice on that?

  • This is probably a really stupid question, but...

I resently got the Cubase 5 when I bought the Steinberg CI2 and have not yet started using it.

My question: Is there any difference between "Cubase 5" and "Cubase Ai 5" ? Someone told me they where the same, but then others have told me they are not.

    Thanks !

  • @zetaBmoon no Cubase AI is some kind of a very basic version. Just compare the features. For example in Cubase AI you only got 48 available Audio Tracks whereas in Cubase 5 you got unlimited. You also have access to 32 plugins whereas in Cubase 5 you got 56.

Here you can see all specs of cubase 5:

    steinberg(dot)net/fileadmin/redaktion/PDF/Cubase_5/Cubase_5_NewFeatures.pdf

  • @zetaBmoon sorry, you even only got 31 plugins in Cubase AI

  • @zetaBmoon however BTW: The software core (audio engine, GUI etc) should be the same. So I would say you can share your projects with normal Cubase 5 users. I would say they can play your projects without problems however you might not be able to play projects of normal Cubase 5 users, at least they will of course sound different on Cubase AI when the normal cubase users have used plugins or instruments you don't have access to.

  • @YummyBeatsClips Okay. Thanks for the help :)

  • Hi sorry for a stupid question but i cant get loop mash to even begin to play i click play and nothing happens any ideas?

  • @11window hmm, taht's odd. Did you press the play button in your transport window (F2) or the spacebar key? Cause LoopMash is linked to your project so if you start to play your whole project, loopmash also starts to plays (compared to a normal audio track or so)

Else I don't know why it's not working. Do all the light blink within LoopMash and you just don't hear any sound when you hit the play button?

  • @YummyBeatsClips ok i got it working after trying a whole bunch of things it worked for a day and messed up again. ive just given up on it now

  • @thetruth101100 Yes, just insert or open LoopMash in your VST instrument rack (F11) instead of adding it as instrument track. You can now activate the single audio outputs in your instruments rack. Each output is one loop track. The first (standard ) output is the whole LoopMash audio mix so you have to mute it to control the single volumes of each loop track.

  • ok guys in the loop smapler can i like record for a bar....and if i like can i make it into a loop by adding it to the loop thing

  • @hallal55 hmm I don't exactly know which loop sampler you mean. But you can record some audio material / loops with Cubase export like 4 bars and put it as loop into loop mash, yes. However you can't record any audio within loopmash itself but you can record a midi track and control loopmash like switching the presets with midi notes.

Of course you can also export your loopmash track as audio file and create a new loop out with putting the file into loopmash again.

  • Damn! This awesome beat is swinging my white butt off the chair haha...I'll definitely try using loop mash from now thanks to yummybeats! ^-^

  • hi, im gonna sound like an idiot here, but i just got cubase, so bear with me :)

sooooooooo, i press "new track" and "instrument" and i press the drop down menu like you do, but loop mash is not there.

    help please,

    cheers :)

  • @jakeyboymarmot not at all, you don't wanna know how I started making music and switched to a software sequencer :-)

to your problem: which version of cubase are you using? Cause there's also a studio version (called Cubase 5 Studio) which comes without loop mash. However if you are using Cubase 5, loop mash should appear in this list. So maybe try to reinstall cubase. And also check your vst3 folder is there a "LoopMash.vst3" file?

  • thanks for the video, it was good for me because i have no idea about cubase and midi

  • any thing random is pretty useless to me but thanks for the info on this

  • thx 4this

  • Take that annoying intro loop you have at the beginning out from the rest of the video. It comes on between vid parts and its annoying to hear, and its confusing to differentiate from what you are making. Because it sounds similar to what you are making in the video.

  • Sorry, that the track is annoying you, but have you read the title and watched the whole video? There are many people who wanna see loop mash in action. Not only a tutorial about the functions. Thats why the second part is about making this beat and that's why the beat sound similar to what we are making in the video not to say exactly like it ;-)

And by the way, you can always argue about music tastes and never come to an end. Some like this track, some don't (well hopefully some like it)

  • I didnt mean annoying in the sense that it sounds bad, its just clashing with the beat you are constructing. Just remove that intro loop from the rest of the vid and this tutorial will be good to go!

  • I was hoping someone could help with this. I want to use loops that I've created, and there is a QWERTY shortcut that enables you to move the waveform around within the loop itself - enabling you to choose where you want the loop to start....

Does anyone know this shortcut? I forgot and cannot figure it out....! Thanks ahead of time guys!

  • I couldn't find any shortcuts yet, sorry. Also looked up some forums. Its a good question and if anyone knows how to move the loops within loopmash or even only change the starting point etc of each loops, please tell.

  • @YummyBeatsClips - You know what? I had it right the first time, except that it works with some loops and not others. I happened to be trying it on a loop that it didn't work on.

It's the "Alt" key + Dragging the Waveform with the mouse to the desired start point (this is great for obvious reasons).

  • @LibraClassic that's great. However I'm prety sure that I tried alt & strg key at first and it didn't work for me (at least not on win7 64Bit ) :(

    Anyway thx for the hint

  • @YummyBeatsClips strg key? I mean holding down "alt" and draaaagging with the mouse (ya gotta click IN the waveform to do it - but again, it won't work on some audio files for some reason - I guess how they're recorded)...I wonder if you have W7/64bit has anything to do with it....hmm, must investigate, LOL....

I've given up on Loopmash to tell you the truth. LOLOL

  • @LibraClassic yeah yeah, I know. Just meant that alt and the strg, where the first keys I tried. So that's why I'm sure that alt didn't work. I also tried several different loops but none worked yet. In my case, I don't know if it's a win7 thing but it could be. For example some other drag & drop functions also are not working well, compared to XP.

  • yeah how do you preview a sound like a beat instead of selecting it. in the tutorials he say's use the keyboard and scroll down and listen to it BUT i don't know if he is using a piano keyboard ?

  • It's a normal midi keyboard. You just have to enable "MIDI Input" at the bottom of your MediaBay and you can instantly play every instrument/preset you have selected with your keyboard (without opening any plugin).

However this only works with preset files not with normal audio files.

The audio preview just starts by selecting the audio-files (when "auto play" is activated on the bottom right)

  • Yummy thank you soo much 4 the help man appreciate it. ok this is what i did i right clicked went into add instrument track selected strings, viola, clicked on viola 2 at the bottom like you said click on MIDI Input i tried clicking on it many times to activated it and then tried pressing G,H,F all the letters on keyboard to sample the sound but i get no sound.I can hear it when i double click to select it i can use the letters to hear the beats do i have to change something like in preference?

  • Normally you don't have to setup anything (as long as your midi keyboard is working already)

    Give this a try:

    - Open your mediabay (F5)

    - Select "Show VST Plug-in Presets" on the top

    - In the left browser chose the folder with your Preset files (usually C hard disk)

    - Select your desired preset and enable "MIDI Input" on the bottom then

    - Preview the sound by just playing on your keyboard

    - Double-click on the preset to insert it as instrument track into your project

  • Just tried as you did and it works fine with me. Maybe your keyboard doesn't send at all MIDI Channels? So just try to get your keyboard to send the midi signals at all channels. Maybe this helps?!

  • YummyBeatsClips WHAT ARE YOU......YOUR A FUCKEN LEGEND THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH YEAH IT WORKS LIKE THAT THANKS MAN THANKS FOR THE HELP but why does it only work like that ?hmm i am confused why cant i do it the way i wanted to do it any ways thanks agian keep up the good work man thanks agian your a legend take care bro bye

  • do you have to use a keyboard to use cubase or reason? or could you manage on just a mouse?

  • you don't have to cause almost every plugin has a graphical keyboard you can play with your mouse or your computer keys (special software needed here). But I would definitely recommend to use a real keyboard. Cause you can't make ambitious music only with your mouse.

  • thank you, i have a music keyboard could i use that or would i need some sort of wire to hook it up with my laptop? thanks

  • you need at least a midi or a usb master keyboard (for midi or usb connection). For midi connection you also need an interface with a midi input. Just buy a whole audio interface you'll need it for low latencies. I would suggest Presonus, Focusrite, RME, Apogee (or Metric Halo if you're using a mac). Just google a bit and look through online music stores.

  • is cubase 5 inluding all of these sounds/samples or they are your own??

  • The preset in the beginning of this tutorial is included in cubase 5.

The other 2 loops (tbry-lp-01 and tbry-lp-03) at about 3:10 are from us. Also all single drums later on. You can get all loops and drums at our website.

  • thx

  • can i use this to record?

  • Sorry, all of our beats are copyrighted. However write a PM and we can talk about an agreement.

But you can use our loops & samples of course. Just get them from our website

  • Is there finally Midi to audio here in Cubase 5?

  • What do you mean by midi to audio? You want to listen to controller data ;-) You can export all vst instruments to audio tracks. But this is possible since CubaseVST or even earlier I think.

  • Cool, now how do I get my loop into the actual project?

  • You can export the loop track like a normal audio track. But I would suggest you to leave loop mash as instrument track in your project, so that you can change the loopmash settings during your song. If you want to mute the whole loopmash in parts of your song just make an empty preset or use the audio automation.

  • my cubase 5 didn't come with loopmash.

was it supposed to?? i only got groove agent, prologue synth and halionone. :(

where do i get it if not?

  • Hmm, have you bought "Cubase 5" or "Cubase Studio 5"? Because the Studio Version comes without Loop Mash. But if I remember right you can also buy an upgrade from Studio 5 to Cubase 5.

  • what is cubase exactly, is it something for drums only?

  • No, Cubase is a music production system (Host, Sequencer, Recording Software, Mixer, Studio Environment etc)

It's one of the professional music production software, besides Logic or ProTools etc. So you can also find it at many big recording or producing studios.

  • nice tut. what percussion's did you use ?

  • all single drums in this tutorial are from yummybeats

The percussions are from the "Brooklyn Drums 1" library

  • thi shit is hott, kudos

  • great tut!
