@EmbersList I just bought one of these laptops on ebay. It came with software called 'Fingerprint Reader Suite' by a company called UPEK. Haven't set mine up yet but maybe you can find it on the web.

Whenever I use my fingerprint reader on my new XPS 1530, it keeps saying "Too Short." I dunno what I'm doing wrong; I make it a longer swipe and it still tells me that. It seems like I can only use my thumb to log in and it gets it every time, but not my index finger. What's the trick to it?

You need to swipe your finger down as if you are in the inside of a ball moving downwards.

What you need to do is do the same motion consistently. Try to make a straight line while pushing firmly down.

So what happens if say you really needed a file but you didn't have your computer with you could is there an alt password to let you in so someone with your computer can get the file? this seems lots quicker but suppose you couldn't be there to login?

Yes there is a password. Also you scan several fingers so if your index gets chopped off you are still ok.

When you bought your xps, did it come with a carry case/sleeve or have you got to by that separately?

It comes with a sleeve. I don't use it. It also comes with headphones and a cloth to clean your screen. You should get it with the remote. Very cool.

I didn't see the remote available in the bluetooth accessories list. Did it come with it or do you have to add it to your cart separately?

Im pretty sure the Remote comes standard with the XPS Models.
