Your advice is nice, but you should work on your presentation.
For example, you should regularly display your full screen, to show viewers more of your image as an example of how it should turn out. Also, at the beginning, after your title, you should show the final image, to show users what the tutorial aims to teach you, as well as showing it at the end, showing the final product.
wow Great Tutorial!! Im Learning how to use gimp and i wanna know how to make some cool Stuff cuz i find GImp Hard , I use photoshop More Really... And Yea Awesome Dude i Rate 5 Stars
What age are you? Hope your gonna work in Graphic Design or something or it will be a waste of a great talent!!
Didn't think I'd be doing anything like this since I have only been using Gimp for a very short time you explain everything really well keep the tutorials coming!!
thanks man my backround is friken awsome could you make a video where you edit pictures like a picture of my little sister in like the milkey way galaxy star
a nice sugggestion would be to zoom out at the end of the vid. and show what it looks like. your tutorials are amazing just thought it wud be nice to see what u make in the end
@supermariomano EDIT: Nevermind, I was setting the gradient mode to overlay instead of the layer mode. Crossinto, are you setting the LAYER mode to overlay or the GRADIENT mode? Same problem I had until I looked closer.
This reminds me of something i did like 5 months ago. i think you saw it on your site. my username is HelgeSverre, and i made something in this "style"(the lines all over) but with white background and blue lines. so.. yeah :P cool if you figure that on your own :)
hey i just downloaded gimp today i got the 2.5.6 or something version and that box that you use to choose color and form and all the stuff instead it says somethin like "drag and drop something here" but nothing drags or drops it sucks...
You are a legend, I used to use Gimp before I got my Photoshop licence but I am going back. Also, end result reminds me of the Windows Vista default wallpaper. How old are you? (dw I'm just wondering..im 14)

Another way to color this is by flattening the image, picking the gradient you want and going to Color > Map > Gradient Map. It looks awesome!

if you change the last gradient you do to color it from linear to radial it looks quite good
axxaxaxx 2 years ago
Hey, at the end where there are many different layer modes you could do, have you tried burn? Burn looks the best imo.
Anyway, great tutorial! Really simple, yet outstanding.

There is an easier way to get the same crystal effect. Yours still is good just a little hard for begineers.

use jpeg, it will tell you that it must be flattened. click export and set quality to 100. then click ok
doghouse144 2 years ago
nice tut, but instead of making all the overlay layers at the begining you can just use one layer and set the gradient tool to overlay ;)
