  • 1985....the good ole days

  • This was the music mother and father played at home. My first son was born in 1971.

  • RIP Mr. Clare Fischer

  • Just watched their story on Unsung. They did her so wrong!!

  • I always wondered who sang this song when I heard it on the radio..now I know...the video was a nice surprise

  • This isreal musicnfortunatly a lot of young people are not exposed to tis.

  • Just watched unsung...was very interesting...I wore this song out back in high School...love it!!

  • Brbara Weather's voice is so pretty

  • Barbara Weathers is wonderful!

  • Love this music,so much feeling, life back then was great!!!!!!

  • I miss this real music. someone actually speaking and expressing themselves without cursing and violence. I am glad that i was born in 1970! LOL! I am not afraid to say that I am forty one and loving it!

  • @1luvkiki

Even more rare today are 'concept' videos such as this. I was in the 7th grade when this video came out and my sister and I used to wait for it on Video Soul or Video Vibrations. We'd even scat the horn solos! They should've mentioned the buzz this video created amongst their fans back then. It was kind of groundbreaking for a truly soulful act.

  • @1luvkiki agreed

  • @1luvkiki

I'm not too far behind you in age lol...I'm two years younger, & I say it all the time, that I was born at the right time lol! I would go back in a heartbeat & do it all over again, just to experience this music as a teenager! I feel sorry for the kids today, & what they're listening to...I really do!!

  • I don't know how I missed this song. I may have heard it when I was little, but this is quite possibly one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. I think I've had this melody in my head since then but not placed it until now. My friends struggle to get me into new music, but it has gone from hit and miss to just miss. I guess the music is reflecting the current state of mind in the USA.

  • Real music right here.

  • Can't wait for their Unsung ep.

  • Beautiful song!

  • those theatre seats got all greased up

  • I definitely agree with you mistee64. The lyrics today in songs leave nothing to the imagination.

  • this song is explains my sitch right now

  • so lovin the 80's!

  • man all i got to say is the 70s and 80s was the best times of life grew up on this song and all the wonderful songs of the 70s and 80s the music will live forever

  • This is probably Herman Cain's favorite song. That's a lying joker!

  • Is it me or the songs we grew up with (like these) were way more mature sounding than those of today? Not only lyrically (about real relationship issues vs. slang and profanity, sex, and materialism), but also musically. Male voices were deep and soulful, female voices were heavenly. Songs today are dominated by heavy bass and computer generated music, and mediocre singing at best. As this song says, they're heart isn't in it! No male singers today sing with any soul and passion.

  • love this

  • This is a Music Video!!!! I miss R&B groups and bands! everyone wants to be a solo act now-a-days. Really shows a lack of unity in our community. There used to be a new band/group coming out all the time. The musical landscape really reflects the times we are in now

  • What year did this song came out?

  • you know Its all f*cked now when you mention a duet to young people they say its a woman singing and a man rappin lol

  • time for a grassroots record company to break the cycle of BS

  • CLASSIC!!!!!!!!

  • i like this song

  • wow, my senior year in high school. always loved this video

  • I love this song! Dont you just miss the 80's?

  • Seems like true love songs ended in the 80's....now everything is sexed up!

  • What a beautiful song this is.

  • I thought that Sharon Bryant was the lead singer of Atlantic Starr?

  • @MrHandsallover She was before Barbara Weather replaced her.

  • @ManOfGod626 Thanks I appreciate the feedback

  • @MrHandsallover Not a problem.

  • Misteeq64 You are totally RIGHT!!!! God bless the lovesongs!!! :-)

  • OMG I use to LOVEEE this song when this first came out.. god I miss the 80's lol

  • song if chill video quality not so chill

  • Lyrically this is one of my favorites songs of all time. The lyrcis on this song helped me a lot personally. If your heart isn't in it...why don't you let me go, I can't go to the limit, I have to know. Great video too.

  • Barbara Weathers was fine as hell!

  • This is a great song.

I initially thought this was maurice white from earth wind and fire. They tore this song up. I wish I were with someone enjoying this song.

  • I'm encouraged that lately the duet has come back into R & B, although Atlantic Star is obviously a group. Anthony Hamilton/Jill Scott, Kem/Chrisette Michele, Ceelo/Melanie Fiona, El Debarge/Faith Evans, all have great songs. I know I am missing one or two.

  • Written by Hamish Stuart former original lead singer of the Average White Band

  • I sure love this song to death, artist now days don't take pride puttin together beautiful song like this one.

  • i am so glad i went to see them in concert years ago.

  • I live in South Florida and the music here is absolute garbage. Thank goodness for Hot 105 ! This is the kind of stuff they play. Takes me back to my high school days . Not sure if that's good or bad but I enjoy the heck out of it, anyway!

  • Its " that girl can sing" not sang.

  • @biggest70smusicfan No that girl can SANG!!!

  • @biggest70smusicfan You fail to recognize hood language. When someone is a fantastic singer, we say they can "sang" or that girl was "sanging." It's a street way of distinguishing between a good singer and someone who can flat out "sang"... lol!

  • Its " that girl can sing" not sang.

  • 17 people's heart wasnt in it...

  • i really wish i could go back to that time when love was real :(

  • LOVE IT!!!

  • I never knew there was a video to this

  • I loved Atlantic Starr, they were the funk back in the late 80s and early 90s!! Much love!

  • MAN WHAT HAPPEN TO LOVE HAVE YOU NOTICE THAT THEY DONT PLAY SLOW SONGS IN CLUBS ANYMORE. EVERYBODY JUST WANTS TO SCREW AROUND.ANYWAYS LOVE THIS SONG BRINGS ME BACK SO MUCH MEMORIES.THANKS

  • Is that Stan Van Gundy or Ron Jeremy in 2:09?

  • great love song

  • The good ole days!

  • great song ! now this what I call real r&b , not like the bull shit that they sing nowadays !

  • this song takes me back to the summers when things were simple and care free.

  • Can u please make this avaliable for mobile. This is my favorite video of all time

  • Oh my goodness the memories of this song, this time, music like this is far and feww between nowdays miss the better times of then...

  • You gotta feel sumthin when this song plays wether it applies to your life or not!! Too much feelin flowin thru it...lol Wish more songs were made like this today....

  • Unsung is doing an episode of Atlantic Starr on TVOne.

  • "It's a fragile situation. It could fall apart at any time." Lyrics said everything back in the day. Videos told the story and the artists truly performed the song. This is the ultimate slow jam. Gorgeous vocals and melody.

  • 17 ppls hearts aren't in it

  • Rappers with filthy lyrics and no talent this the legacy our kids have been given . WHAT HAPPENED ????? when music was about love where the word BITCHES GOLDIGGER were unknown . Who is responsible for this terrible tragedy WHERE DID WE GO WRONG .

  • @misteeq64 ummm You can't say All Rappers are like that Have you ever heard of Common Talib Kweli,Little Brother, shit it's tons of rappers That are Conscious But They don't get radio play because The ppl that own the radio stations Dont want to play inspirational music only negative music

  • @misteeq64 Go to my youtube site and you wll find your answer...I agree with you totally...drop me a personal!

  • @misteeq64 amen...what heppned?

  • @misteeq64 im sorry but Bitches Goldigger were around then...there just wasn't enough people talking about them. Rappers give the dark reality that people avoid or act doesn't exist. Nowadays the rappers just overshadow the music about love..but if you pay close attention its returning back to love song...slowly but surely.

  • @misteeq64

    PREACH!!!!!

  • @misteeq64 google: illuminati

    lol

  • @CMLaneLV yep those are the bastards that are filling the music of today with this negativity and trying to destroy the upcoming generation

  • @misteeq64

I often ask myself the same thing. I think the change started with the lyric in the Sugar Hill Gang "Rappers Delight"......"If your girl starts acting up then you take her friend". Those lyric signified to men that women are disposable. They took that lyric and ran with it.

  • @misteeq64 man i feel ya my brother what in the hell happen to life but hopefully if the lord say the same we can get this kind of music back we just have to go back to the old school roots peace 1 luv my brother

  • @misteeq64 it is sad, that is why we must do what we can to exposed them to what we listen to in the day.

  • real music

  • 1986 one of the best summers i could remember and this song brings it all back, thanks 4 postn it.

  • man their music always makes me stop what im doing and just listen it has so soul you cant do nouhing but give it up to them

  • This was *my* favorite song by Atlantic Starr (even more than "Secret Lovers"). And this video is A-MA-ZING (what a hell of an ending!) It is more creative than 90% of the crap that's come out in the past 20 years.

  • I love this video and im only 9 !

  • This waz real song people just need 2 quit playin all tha damn tyme!!!

  • Great and beautiful song... Also makes me wanna bring back my jheri curl from 1985...

  • I love this song and video!

  • I told you never to play that song again! Oh there I go again... anybody got a hanky?

  • All I can say is this is when music was real music! It had true meaning and reflected true feelings of the heart and romance. Sadly, we are seeing this kind of music fade away. I can truly say that I am glad to have grown up during this incredible era of music. A very nice video!

  • @kenpalmer1965 i hear you on that...the songs from back then always gave you answers to whatever life throws you way

  • IF UR HEART ISNT IN IT! ( LOVE DIS SONG)

  • This is when music was music!!!! You felt what you sung!!!

  • wow, man! ive never seen this video. i love this song so much. the video was very sweet. GREAT GROUP!

  • @puncho33... In deed a classic.. indeed. now look up... the fact that there are 16 idiots of 1081 voters says that there are still a great many persons out here with quality taste for music.

  • @puncho33... In deed a classic.. indeed. now look up... the fact that there are 16 idiots of 1081 voters says that there are still a great many persons out here with quality taste for music.

  • One of my all time favorite duets

  • This song makes me cry. Especially when you thought someone that you was in love with but that person really didn't love you. I like the part in this song when it says"Don't Keep Me Hanging On For Dear Life.

  • One of the most beautiful love songs of all time

  • You keep treating me like a stranger

As if I was never there

  • IMO their BEST song

  • My heart is in it!

  • When this cut came out I was coming out of high school! One of many cuts at that time.

The great thing about Atlantic Starr was that they had so many priceless cuts. They were one of my greatest bands during the great 80's.

There music sounds greater today than it did almost 30 years ago! Peace

    Steelers0995

  • This song seems to a Black anthem to love. ALL Brothers and Sistas love this jam. Where are the Latino, Asian, and White peeps? This is what we listen to when we WE come home.

  • @Dactuck Hey man, I'm white and I love all these classic tunes from the 80s. Thank God for youtube because I think of this song and others like it often and feel like I'm the only one in the world who even knows about it, much less listens to it. It's good to know that this music lives on still, if only in a few of us lucky enough to remember!

  • @Jllucky8 Thank You for your time. Hubris and ignorance allows me to sound IMPORTANT! I like your style.

  • @Jllucky8 Your not alone. You only think you are.

  • This song fits my life for where I am today....Some people do not value other people feelings. Tell them they love them and when they let their guard down they break their hearts.

  • @SexieCanI008 Those people are doing you a favor, even if it doesn't feel like it. They are merely paving the way for true love... Like Gerald Levert's "Made to love ya"

  • My wife (my girlfriend at the time) and I moved in with each other in the summer of 1994 with the promise that if the relation didn't evolve to the point where we would become happily married within 5 years that we were gonna end the relationship.

Well needless to say that I proposed to her in the early fall of 1998....got married in the summer of 1999....and we're going on 12 years now.

  • SOOOO TRUE ... sadly a part of the story of my life

  • in old school music u can feel the words and catch the meaning its when love was always real it cuts to the core

  • wow Barbara could pass for Sharon's little sister here.

  • People change w/ time. New generation and time has drastically change soOo much w/ new technology, new laws being put in, and on and on it goes. READ MY LIPS....IT CAN NEVER AND WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THE WAY IT USED TO BE...NOTICE I SAID...USED TO BE.

  • This is the kind of song that says what your feeling when you don't have the words yourself.

When artist could really sing too.

  • That girl can sang!

  • @nospaces08 so true...love is just a four letter word to people now a days...seems people take for granted such a sweet and real feeling and trash it time and again...sad :(

  • Yessir..

  • MUSIC WAS MUSIC THEN AND PEOPLE KNEW THE RAL VALUE OF LOVE, TRUST AND UNDERSTANDING....VERY FEW PEOPLE KNOW THE DIFFERENCE ANYMORE........SAD,,,

  • @ladyunleashed30 I liked this song back in 1985 and I still like it now. I hear this song in my mind sometimes and I end up singing it aloud. Boy the music has changed hasn't it? I like Atlantic Starr and hadn't heard any of their songs lately. Are they still together?

  • posso voltar no tempo e fazer tudo diferente,ai se eu pudesse, como e impossivel ,saudades de vc amor da minha vida, quem sabe um dia ainda a gente fique junto nessa ou em outra vida, nunca te esqueci.

  • This is when music had meaning, and you actually understood the words, toady's music just wants too drop something shake somthing or do somebody.

  • I dont have to say a word, the music say it all

  • This was real music, singing and the video captured you from beginning to end. They just don't do stuff like this now days. Shame the industry went from great to garbage.

  • Love the message in this music.

  • this bringz back alot of old memories, wen fallin n luv meant sumthin 2 both parties. now n dayz u dnt kno wat ur gettin from ur partner,

  • this song makes me tear up sometimes...unrequited love...waaaaah! Great song!

  • @2279731 That was before rap. God life was so great then.

  • Wow Atlantic Starr made so many good slow jams. I love this group.

  • Atlantic Starr had some music fo ya! Lol! This tune was ringing in my head and I couldn't think of the name of it. Started singing and didn't even realize that was the name of it! So happy for YouTube!

  • just tell me and ill be gone...from your life....

  • me and my boo just got in from a ride. the weather is nice....summer night, around 78 degrees. this song came on and i've been blazing it ever since, over and over again!! l love it, it takes me back and has some certainty here even now. thank you for posting this song.

  • A great story and song. I think part of the magic back then was that artists made songs people could really relate to by telling a story.

  • this was the hightlight reel that ened the first marriage

  • @GGS06SM no offense and sorry but, LOL.

  • Damn i miss groups that make great music...

  • damn! i would've have forgotten about this one guy until i heard this song again ...it was summer 1986, he had this song playing in his car all the time and he was singing along, too. he was so cute- looked like Morten Harket LOL- who was hot in those days. started to fall in love but i got back with my bf after summer. thought a lot about him until i got hitched. .. then i found this video. bittersweet memories started to come back, hmm, i wonder where he is now?

  • the best time of my life, the 80s.

  • Music for grown folks - thanks deedee
