I used Crono/Frog/Magus (from lead to caboose) all at LV ** and with best equipment. I cycled between Lightning 2, Water 2, and Fire 2, healing with consumables when needed.
I beat him at lv29 with Crono/Ayla/Frog. Gave them all armor that absorbs lightning and used their Triple Tech to attack. You have to defeat him before he uses Overdrive, though.
