  • Wow. This is very rare for the time. Too bad the paint scheme really doesn't exist anymore. This engine is museum-worthy when it's retired in my opinion. Is it still in the C&O paint or did they paint it over?

  • Excellent video, and awesome catch with that ex-C&O unit, too bad they didn't keep it in those colors...

  • Nice Video!

    5/5

  • AWESOME VIDEO DUDE

  • Saw this engine at Folkston, Georiga in August 2008, by October it has been repainted in the new CSX paint scheme.

  • It's in fresh CSX YN3 paint now...

  • There is a C&O SD-45 switching the rival yard at CSX right now! Old school

  • Sweet. It looks like id be a easy engin to change to CSX. Just paint over the C&O and put CSX on the side. Awsome vid.

  • Nice Vid.....

Was wondering why the WSOR has so many flat spots on the cars they carry in consist?

    HGK

  • Thanks man! A lot of the cars in that train like the "San Fe"s have really old wheels, in fact, they cannot even be interchanged w/ other roads. Some of the noise though is due to the WSOR having mostly jointed rail where there are joints about every 39 feet, which causes more of a clickity clack sound. Most of the bigger roads have welded rail, where there is only a joint every quarter milem

  • Great horn action! You did great job multitasking too, by holding the camera in one hand and the umbrella in the other lol.

  • Uh, what don't people get, that even when the gates are going up, if the lights are flashing, the road is still closed until the lights stop flashing

  • I really love these crossings.

  • Yea, they are pretty cool.

  • Nice C S X Unit.

  • Very great video IC6071, thanks a million for sharing, and going out to get the video. Gosh that K5LA that 4617 has never gets old.. A good one! Two very good sounding SD40's in this video. - Mike Mullins

  • Is that yellow unit a Western Pacific SD40?

  • No, its WSOR 4054, before it was painted. It is an ex UP.

  • Totally great video! You even got the safety barrier gate again like I requested! Thank you ever so much! I just wish I knew what kind of lights were on those gates. Favorites and 5 stars!

  • Thanks alot trainmanwp!

  • You can call me William. Or Will. this is even better than the WSOR JMR in Monroe video. THIS is the best video you've ever done.

  • VERY!!!

  • That C&O unit is a nice catch! I'm lovin' this WS stuff. Are they a freindly RR?

  • YES IN FACT MY GRANDMAS BROTHER FRED HAS A SON NAMED mIKE WHO WORKS FOR THIS RR HE DRIVES THE HJ

  • CSXT 4617 is one of the last three SD40s remaining in service on the CSX roster. CSX 4617 was originally built for the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway back in 1966, original road number was 7534. You guys in Wisconsin got a treat by seeing the last unit remaining in C&O colors on the CSX roster.

The other two units are CSXT 4601 and 4602, both are ex-Louisville & Nashville #1233 and 1234 respectively.

  • A slight correction WV1. 4617 is the last of 4 or 5 of the SD40's now, although I'm not sure of all of the numbers. 4617 is supposedly on the verge of retirement/to-a-new-home at anytime. 4617 was also delivered to the C&O in 1971, right at the Chessie Merger.

  • CSX on the hood, did wsor repaint this sd-40? i see from the back end of it there not porch?

  • Nope, WSOR didn't repaint this. It was just in town for a couple of days. I was really suprised to see it take the JMR out though.

  • That was awesome and I enjoyed it!

  • Yeah, that is one of those gates that is supposed to stop a vehicle doing 30. It might even be faster, I'm not sure.

  • BTW, if any of you were wondering, the job out to Monroe currently runs three days a week: Monday Wednesday, and Friday, although, I heard they were talking about making it a 5 day a week job due to the usually large output by Badger Ethanol Plant in Monroe WI.

  • a friend of mine from wsor told me they were to start coming into monroe 5 days a week , sun thru thur.i live in monroe too
