It's funny to see that Sandor was dealing the most damage. When I was playing the iPod version, P.J. was doing 700-800 damage with Flame, and Sandor was barely doing 300 (even with Thyxaal).
I recently acquired this game last week on the Sega CD. Must say, I was really disappointed. While both Lunars and Dark Wizard were and still to this day hold up as a great RPGs, Vay is totally dated. For myself personally, I couldn't get past the character status window taking up 1/4 of the screen. The sound was great, other than that though, the battles felt weak and everything just felt old. Shame because the story is really good.
Honestly I don't know what it is, but the damage your characters are doing at level 80 seems really really low. I don't know anything about this game i'm just making a comparison compared to other rpg's, I saw an attack for 30 there, I'm curious how much hp this boss has, and why the game designers would make attacks do so little.
You gotta love how these old school RPGs tell you just how many enemies of a type are in a battle, even unique bosses.

Apparently you neglected to notice P.J.'s attack was with a cane and had 115 ATK compared to Sandor's 599 ._.

This battle wasn't very hard for me, it was just very long. Apparently Working Designs definition of difficulty-balancing is giving enemies more HP.

Actually, if I recall correctly, there were two Vay armors, but Sadoul somehow managed to keep the other one hidden.
I remember thinking this was the greatest plot twist of all time.
