dude my computer was fine without norton and avg but when these two shitty programs were on my computer they annoyed the shit out of me they kept saying SUBSCRIPTION EXPIRED!
Ok switch to malwarebytes. That saved me from a fake antivirus software, mcafee just warns you about FAKE viruses to make it look like it works, but it couldnt detect the most obvious and most common, but bad virus, fake antivirus software 2007,2008,2009,2010. It blocked me from most sites i use on the internet, but I could at least search how to get rid of it, i tried malware bytes, and it worked.
McAfee site advisor is no better than AVG link scanner. They are both rubbish. You are much better off with WOT (Web Of Trust) plugin for your web browser.
But hey, if you really were serious about security you wouldn't be using Windows.
Another presumptuous moronic teen Wintard with no clue, no experience, and no history in real computer security. Stick to something you might know something about, like scooping fries at McDonald's. People in IT who are SERIOUS about security do not use an insecure operating system that was never designed with security in mind from the ground up. Period.
And I don't use a Mac either excrement for brains.
@Keruaran What a fucking idiot. If Mac had a bigger slice of the market share than Windows the number of viruses would automatically be bigger. Why make viruses for a small number of people? It's not about OS holes, it's about market share you fucking moron. "But hey, if you really were serious about security you would use common sense" too bad you don't have it(guess what, you can't buy that IT expert)
@Mike92N The market share argument has been debunked so many times its not even worth going into here. Microsoft is responsible for the poorest operating systems I have ever seen. I don't care if that offends your fanboy sensitivities. The fact that you try to use that argument illustrates your ignorance. You haven't actually got a clue what you're talking about and are just a moronic Microsoft fanboy (who the hell knows why since their products are so notoriously bad) drinking the kool aid.
@Mike92N Lets make something clear - If you ever applied for a job that involves being responsible for real IT security and you went into the interview espousing the same kind of arguments you do here I can guarantee you this - You will not get the job and your resume will go straight into the trash.
@Keruaran You are the only one here who thinks of himself as an IT expert. I'm not a Microsoft fanboy since I have machines running with both windows and mac. The problem is idiotic people coming with solutions like "get a mac" when the discussion is about windows applications. I've had enough of this. You be the "IT expert".
@Mike92N You're pretty keen to keep making a fool of yourself aren't you? People who have serious security requirements use Linux, BSD, Solaris etc. Not Windows. And I'm not the one who keeps bringing up Mac's or "get a mac", you are. You got all offended and, in your ignorance, called me an "idiotic mac fanboy" because of one little comment I made, though my comment happened to be correct. If you want to use Windows, fine, but don't kid yourself that its a secure operating system, it isn't.
guys I probably suggest getting kapersky (pretty expensive thou) or Trend Micro Security which tells you which sites are safe. but I suggest Kapersky if you are willing to spend 80 or 70 - 90 bucks.
AVG is so stupid. if you download a update from microsoft (which you should every now and then) it will probably say (DETECTED VIRUS - TROJAN) or something like that.
i tried the trial for the web protection and it literally held me hostage. every website i would go to it would tell me it's unsafe and i needed to buy their shit.
i finally got fed up and logged on administrator and set internet access to microsoft only.
Avast! 4.8 Pro vs AVG Anti Virus vs Avira Premium = Avast! win for his great scan, detection, noscript and many more ! Avast! has success a lot for his anti virus go for Avast! and be safe !
can some1 tell me why almost every1 thinks avg is bad? some people have problems with the installer but i don't have problems with it. the free version of avg 7.0 saved my pc's life. and now i have avg 8.0 up to 2019.
it detects somthing before it downloads in fact the firewall on systems suite 9 is much beter because if you go to a site with active treats it blocks the contents and scripts of the treats and brings up a pop up that said it did do so. if i wanted to i can attack your computer anyday with script malware
and avast is the worst program i had with updates every time it checked for updates it would always bring up a stupid red pop-up that said it DIDNT do so. and it wouldn't close. And yes i tryed to fix the problem but there was nothing to fix it.
and when a virus got stuck in my system files and volume files the virus cut of avast from scanning the system files.
So give me one reason why avast isnt a peice of shit
Another good program to have is a program called Sandboxie, so if you accidentily get a virus or spyware, all you have to do is delete the sandbox which the file is in and problem solved
I agree that AVG sucks, but McAfee is also overrated. Kaspersky is a lot better and gives less false positives than McAfee. Ask any serious hacker/cracker and they tell you that Kaspersky is the best AV
The AVG safe search well lets face it...not very safe...I use Mcafee site advisor and it is much better than AVG I also use Mcafee Security center. But my favorite antivirus, antimalware, antitrojan, etc... is COMMON SENSE!
just dont let a virus get in the volume files other wise your anti virus is dead meat trust me i got stuck with it and had to find everything free to remove it. it ain't fun
I'm using AVG right now
...
If someone can tell me a good FREE anti-virus program I'll switch, I really can't afford an anti-virus program.

pilgor87 3 years ago 8
This isn't the main reason why AVG sucks. It uses 100% CPU at startup (avgrsx.exe).
I'd 5* the vid, but I just can't rate (YT sux).
