Hei Julie, I'm living in Norway. I went to a MAC Store and I was going to buy the 217 brush. I asked the price of it and they said that it was 194 KRONS which is 33 USD. Do you think that they sell the brush too expensive or can the price be different between those two countries? Because Norway is one of the richest countries in the world. So is that normal that the brush cost so much?

just to let u know putting clear polish on your mac brushes will ruin them, the nail polish will eventually peel off and peel the mac foil along with it, trust me, it happened to one of my brushes, I was so sad. Nail polish peels off the brush handle just the same as it peels off your nails. Now that I think about it I dont know why I fell for the clear polish thing cause really I should have known better.

Well the main difference between the 217 and the 224 is the hair, 217 is synthetic and 224 natural

Thanks for the helpful review, Julie. I adore the 224 for soft blending! I was surprised to see some professionals like it for under eye concealer application too. I have also recently bought the NARS 12 brush which is like a mini 224 for more precise application in the socket e.g. for darker colours. The two brushes work very well together.

@kaselita Honestly there is nothing like it out there. It is only $22 and it lasts forever if you take care of it. I got mine 5 years ago and I am a makeup artist. I Just had to buy a new one a few weeks ago cause I had worn down the bristles. Think about it $22 over 5 years... Thats only $4.40 per year for this AMAZING brush.

So, Michael's is a craft store and that would make the brushes for actual painting. I found that a little funny, but I guess it would be okay. That's pretty cool!! I like your idea of painting clear polish over the lettering to keep it from fading. Good tip!!

the only MAC brush I have is the 217 ... and THAT'S IT! all my other brushes are from Sonia Kashuk, Studio Tools, NYX, cheaper brands, etc. MAC brushes are just way too expensive. I got the 217 because i love how it applies color in my crease area, my other brushes don't do that.
