  • I hate fucking cops

  • This bartender guy is a punk ...

  • Remember, we're seeing and hearing only side of the story... I'm sure there is a history to this location that precipitated enforcement action. And it's obvious the security camera footage was edited to back this owner's point of view! I love the line in the movie "48 hours" by Eddie Murphy..."You start running a respectable business, Hoss, and we won't have to come in here and hassle you!"

  • Bertrand attacked me too! He must not like DJs

  • I've looked at this video a couple of times to make sure that I was seeing what I was seeing. I really can't believe the lack of professionalism from SFPD Larry Bertrand and California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control Michelle Ott. Their aggressive behavior is beyond unreasonable and I hope that a jury will have access to this video to see what I see and what nightlife bartenders and club owners have experienced.

  • Thank you Javier and Mike for standing up to such crime and being part of change versus part of the problem as Larry Bertrand & Michelle Ott. This video serves as a clear example of why checks and balances need to be put into place; I hope the SFPD and ABC take note and make the appropriate changes!

  • It is very unfortunate that Javier (Jay), the bartender and Mike Quan, the owner of the club, had to pay such a price for Larry Bertrand & Michelle Ott's abuse, brutality and lack of professionalism. I find Larry Bertrand & Michelle Ott's aggressive behavior frightening and embarassing for the departments that they represent!!!

  • This video is a clear example of SFPD Police Abuse and brutality!!!!! The video clearly depicts Larry Bertrand & Michelle Ott taking advantage of their power and taking matter into their own hands versus serving the community as the professionals they are supposed to be.

  • This kind of bad cop no donut behavior is NOT uncommon in SF or any municipality in this free country.

  • TheDbaby27-Posted, then removed..hmmm..coming to your brother's rescue...how cute! :-)

"@GetLostSF1 AKA CHRISTIAN This is Jay's sister and I should have HIT your BIPOLAR REJECT ASS in the face when I had the Chance. YOU LOSER and you were DEFINITELY FIRED YOU USELESS PIECE OF CRAP. What the hell do you know YOU WERE THE ONE WHO SPENT %90 OF YOUR TIME DRUNK. Thats right hide behind your screen name you scary ass. This is not about looking for SYMPATHY we leave that to YOUR sorry ASS."

  • Some also might say that the shock of being punched in the back of the head by an employee of the city who is supposed to protect you is a very good reason to be polite. The real problem is that somewhere along the line, Larry Bertrand and Michelle Ott forgot that their duty was to serve the people and not beat the people.

  • The basic issue is that police in the US (California is notorious for this) are far less likely to face severe penalties for crimes they commit while on duty than a citizen. The "superior" police attitude won't go away until serious crimes they commit while on duty (when they are sworn to "serve and protect") result in life-changing consequences, as opposed to a slap on the hand.

  • @EmmettTheSane

    agreed

  • @EmmettTheSane - "Thank you", for a civil response. I do agree with you, however, saying "Thank You", when someone hits you could be considered being a smartass and asking for more. Better not to say anything.

  • Debee1004, sorry to strike a nerve. It was just questions I had. I have had my issues with police and I have also seen some of my friends make the situation worse. I have been hit by police myself and "thank you" never came to mind. Also, when I was falsely arrested I never told them I was "fine" with it. I protested. If the police are kicking your ass anyway as he claims why not protest?

  • @blknblu21: Having been in similar situations myself with California cops, and knowing many others who have been... saying "please" and "thank you" and NOT protesting is probably the smartest thing to do. This is an obviously violent man who has a gun, buddies present and the force of the law behind him. Protesting in any way is just an excuse for a violent person to take it to the next level. It can, and has, literally ended up with the victim dead.

  • @blknblu21 - you're a fucking idiot

  • @fourfif - "fine" i'm a fucking idiot; I suppose I should say, "thank you".

  • Funny that this pig Larry "voluntarily" reassigned himself. It's in the Guardian, read it for yourselves. Does that sound like someone who is doing the job he should be doing? Or does it sound more like someone who knows he's f****d up for way too long and realizes he better get out of Dodge before he makes it worse?? Haha fools, stand up for Larry now. Can someone please make t-shirts with Bertrand's and Ott's pictures on the front? We can title it "San Francisco's Fugliest".

  • And as for GetLostSF1-- Anyone who was there that night would NEVER have said what you have said. Everyone knows that isn't true. Please keep posting though.

Funny that Javier chooses the worst cop in SF to get into a confrontation with for the first time in his life. And it must certainly be a coincidence that LARRY BERTRAND is the very same cop that SO many people have "claimed" has violated them and their rights.

  • @blknblu21-You're a twit. When one's rights are violated as badly as Bertrand and Ott ALWAYS do it, you don't argue getting cuffed and thrown in a cop car for no good reason. Someone who did something wrong isn't gonna request for the luxury of having cuffs loosened a tiny bit. Acknowledging he was going to go to jail doesn't mean he mouthed off. It meant he was shackled, sitting in a police cruiser, in pain, and he realized he was helpless. Use your brain. All speculation on your part.

  • Couple of questions for the bartender narrating this: 1) Who is "fine" going to jail if they didn't do anything? 2) If a police officer punches you in the back of the head who in their right mind says, "thank you"? Unless, you are being a smart ass. If you said this after you were hit I can only imagine what you said before you got hit.

  • i sure bet The Room wishes they had invested more than a hundred dollars in their security camera system.

    Cheap.

  • to GetLostSf

I think you need to get lost. Jay is one of the coolest and niceest guy who got suffered from this BS. Maybe you are a freind of Michelle Ott or Larry. B. You are a fxxkn lame.

  • RE: GetLostSf comment- I am an employee at The Room and I was there the entire time of the incident. I'm not sure who's GetLostSF1 is, but I know for a fact employees are not allow to drink at all. GetLostSF1 was either an ex-employee whom got fired for drinking or someone whose posting as an employee who used to work at The Room. His statement was entirely false.

  • RE: GetLostSf comment-- I would guess you never worked at the Room. Maybe you work out of the Hall of Justice and think this behavior is acceptable? I've watched that video closely four times and don't see this bartender fighting or trying to get out of his cuffs. I see three officers rushing over to a cuffed man, jumping on him and roughing him up. Even if he mouthed off this doesn't give the officers the right to assault him, knee him and then haul him off to jail for 8 hours.

  • I used to wk there & saw the bs that Jay caused that night..acted like a total a-hole & deserved to go to jail...punkass. What he didn't point out was that he was taunting the officers & then attempted to get his cuffs under his legs & then was fighting them on the couch when they tried to restrain him. Didn't help that he was drunk & this is how he gets...typical of bartenders...why does he have to lie to get sympathy from everyone...theres's a reason he stopped working there..grow the f- up.

  • This asshole showed up at a benefit for anarchist occupiers at SF State and tried to pull this shit. He and his pig friends ended up running away with the few arrests (and one broken arm) they could make after they got pelted with rocks bottles and M-80s.

  • 98% of the SFPD staff are great people. Dedicated, helpful and mellow. Why would they EVER allow this guy Bertrand to go on a 10 month rampage? I guess they are afraid of Commander Dudley, who has spent the last two years attempting to destroy SF nightlife and the Entertainment Commission. Folks should be aware that this raid lasted FOUR hours with 5 officers present-- probably on overtime. This is an outrageous waste of taxpayer money. No wonder why only 30% of murders are solved in SF.

  • The ABC should be aware that there are other videos out there showing the ABC violating the US Constitution and various laws. It may be time to abolish the ABC and put licensing back with the Franchise Tax Board. As for the SFPD-- shame on Gavin and shame on the Chief. They have had evidence of the abuses outlined in the SF Weekly and Bay Guardian cover articles, and have done nothing. The mayor is obviously afraid of the Police Officers Association. It's time to retire Newsom permanently...

  • So sad, imagine the type of life this Larry Bertrand character leads outside of uniform. I'm sure he's a total jerk when he's off the clock too. He's embarrassing, I am ashamed to pay taxes in a city that allows monster's like this to have such control while being so negligent.

The ABC need's to wake up. Don't violently attack the hand that feeds you. No bars, nitelife or alcohol.....and you ABC thugs dont have a job!!

  • oh what is this

  • The real question: does anyone in authority care about abuse?

  • It really seems like both Ott and Bertrand are on power trips, and that they are doing this for the publicity and media attention. The arbitrary manner that they apply the laws is frightening, and has no place in San Francisco. RECORD THEM IF YOU CATCH THEM IN THE ACT! Post their overly aggressive behavior on Youtube, and spread the word...

  • @coreytodds everyone should post wanted posters in SF of Larry Bertrand, wanted for harrassment and theft of laptops

  • I'll do it... anybody have a decent photo of this corrupt cop?

  • No only is this bad, it's bad for business. Not sure what the goal is here aside from being assholes.

  • *Not - doh!

  • UNACCEPTABLE. The ABC is becoming a rogue faction. Make sure these cowboys answer for their violations. They are desperate to keep their jobs, and will do whatever to make themselves look useful.
