  • Thank you for this tutorial! I am hoping to get some roving and make some for birthdays.I made one a couple of years ago but my dog (TODAY!) managed to rip it apart like a tennis ball. Guess that was my fault for making it yellow :o/

  • do you think this would work with a husky's baby coat? :D my friend and I were brushing her puppy (half husky, half chow) because he is blowing his baby coat. I thought it looked like wool, so I tried twisting it into a crude yarn, and it worked pretty well, I'm just wondering if I can make her something with the grocery bag full of dog fur we brushed off her dog as a joke gift

  • @TheVronkz

I am trying to make dog hair dryer balls now, i made some wool ones too, I am going to try both and compare them :] i hope the dog hair ones work! I work at a dog groomers, there is so much dog hair! (we would only use the clean soft stuff of corse)

  • @TheVronkz when I lived in Northern MN, my neighbor brushed his husky daily, collecting the fur and his mother spun it into yarn with which she made mittens and a head band. Pretty cool...

  • Can you use a front loading washing machine or does it have to be a top loading washing machine to do the balls? And do you need to use woolwash detergent or can you just use your normal powder?

  • Haha I love your intro! Thanks for the unexpected laugh.

  • hola que bello trabajo, podrias decirme donde consigo la lana para hacer manualidades ? te agradesco la información, saludos

  • it stinks like a poo

  • The only way to felt crocheted or knitted material is to wash it in hot water and soap in the machine several times. It will shrink, but does the trick. You can then needle felt on top of it to add design or words

  • do you know how to felt a crocheted ball of wool yarn??? ive looked every where but i cant find an answer!!!

  • how do you felt with a crocheted ball made of wool yarn??? ive been looking every where on how to do it but i cant find the answer!!!!! i do know its possible though

  • I do all my shopping online and I found that American Felt and Craft had a ton of wool roving in a bunch of colors and they only buy from free range sheep so it's a great natural craft I can feel good about giving my kids! Thanks for the tutorial I can't wait to make these for my brand new nephew!

  • Would these balls be suitable for dryer balls? Does this process make them durable enough? If not how could I make them more durable?

  • I think so, although I've never personally tried using them as dryer balls. Let us know if it works.

  • That's the correct number, and no they don't have a website. Just give them a call.

  • can you please tell me wot wool types you can use for this. THANK YOU!

  • Any wool (provided that it isn't superwash) should work just fine. You can even use scraps of wool yarn as the core of the ball (wrap more wool batting around them) or to decorate the ball.

  • This was helpful, thanks.

I could also see a kitty walking behind you, yay! :)

  • Yes, his 2 seconds of fame. He likes to play with the wool balls too.

  • I'm not sure that I understand the question. What other wool were you thinking about using?
