the psychobilly subculture came out of the rockabilly revival of the late 70's, the cramps used the term "psychobilly" to describe their music the same way wayne kemp used the term to describe the cadillac in the cash song, the meteors' rockabilly punkrock sound broke the neorockabilly barrier and were the first band to claim their music to be psychobilly, only the meteors are pure psychobilly

I always thought it was Screaming Lord Sutch who started Psychobilly. If not, then it probably was Screamin' Jay Hawkins. But Psychobilly definitely goes back farther than The Cramps although they are a great example of Psychobilly.
