Hands down, Pop Goes The World is one of my all time favorite albums that I can listen to at anytime/anywhere and not skip a track. This is a rare thing that only a total of 3 albums have ever accomplished. Strangely, the others are Siouxsie & The Banshees "Peepshow" and Faith No More's "Angel Dust". These 3 albums were all defining moments in my youth, and still hold strong to me today.
@EarwigEarl Seriously dude. From the 90's and up music just got more violent and depressing. I've been listening to this CD in my car for about 3 week straight now. Every time I turn the radio on instead it's just ugly. Music Artists have just lost track of fun for fun's sake. Korn needs to listen to Men Without Hats!
Hahaha what the hell is this? For a short time, an icon of a soccer-ball is available on the lower right controls. Add annoying vuvuzela sounds to any video! hahahah funny.
I used to hang out with Ivan, Pierre and others in Pierre's place in Montreal. Makes me feel really good to know he's succeeded so well. Peace and all the best, Brother, if your reading this.........
I have always been curious about her. My cd insert doesn't say anything about her, but on the inside of the insert there is a full color, uncropped print of the image above. The only female name that I've come across is Marika Tjelios (who happens to play bass, and some keys) but she doesn't appear on credits until the next MWH album.
My guess is that it is her. Most likely appearing only for the photo shoot and the PGTW & Moonbeam videos. Then, started work recording for their 1989 album.
@4darin5 - She's a model/actress, playing the role of 'Jenny' in the songs concept of the lover between Johnny and Jenny. She's not really in the band...
@4darin5 and @electrohippie09, good question. I've always wondered as well. In my younger years I think we may have been the same age, and it was always intriguing then that they did little share the hidden talent and who they were. why? I ask.
@Jamesquarebush I don't know what's going on. YouTube would store your stereo soundtrack but the link would only play it back in mono. If British users stored their videos through youtube.co.uk though, it played back in stereo. NOW YouTube has improved, and stereo videos play back in stereo after being stored. And I'm glad of that for it makes my own original music videos "Dark Taxi" and "Damascus" to sound better. Haha, shameless plug!
Have to say, this is one album that you can listen to over and over, every song works. Of course, it's great at the beginning with the kids talking....Can you hear me out there?
i first heard the pop goes the world album when i was living on the east coast and my dad was living in california, he sent the album on tape he had made, and in the intro when the voice is saying "can you hear me out there?" i thought my dad had recorded himself onto the tape. it made me miss him even more lol.
I can remember when I bought the tape and exactly what I was doing..I was preparing to run in the Big Ten track finals indoor. 1988......can u dig it?
great song!

@pretzelisdead Why couldn't I be a teenager in the late 80s/early 90s? I had to deal with shit like Korn and Disturbed and Eminem. I missed out.

Odd that YouTube defaults to mono. Hit the HQ button to get stereo (or add "&fmt=18" to the end of a web-page address).
