My Chemical Romance is NOT Pop/Punk! Besides being a great band, wonderful, something has Hardcore. And I'm not a radical fan, but I think you should open your mind. For me it's aloof the best band of this generation.
Sad thing was, AFI went from being an awesome Horror Punk band before caving in to mainstream peer pressure. The Art of Drowning(2000) was their last good album. Damn, we need a 4th wave of Emo that needs to get away from Screamo influences.
i agree on most of this. But you're wrong on screamo. Screamo started in the early 90's with bands like Orchid, Anomie, Saetia, and Moss Icon. Now real screamo bands are Raein, Circle Takes The Square. You're confusing screamo with Post-Hardcore.
unfortunately Bert from the Used doesn't decide reality. Without genres, there would be no distinction between popular music or underground music. Entire counter cultures were constructed upon musical genres. without them life as we know it would not exist, the Used wouldn't exist for that matter, or at least not the way they do now.

you got music and if you bring it lyrical emo, I could say its enough to count with emo..
no matter what style.. Hardcore Punk, Post-Hardcore or Metalcore.. or Acoustic..

@RMPalm2000 -Fugazi is Post Hardcore too. Now a days, genre's mix. Screamo and Post Hardcore mix to form a horrid blend.
