Yes, 1920s and 30s. Animation history is worth knowing. For examples, see Fleischer (Betty Boop, Bimbo the Dog, etc.), Lantz (Oswald the Lucky Rabbit) and Disney/Iwerks (Mickey Mouse 1928 - early 30s) and others of the same style. Futurama also did a parody of cartoons of that era. For sheer imagination, see silent Felix the Cat cartoons from the early 1920s.
@jackboog21 Before TV cartoons used to be screened as shorts before the main movie. Believe me, this clip is parodying b&w cartoons from the early 1930s. In the 1950s cartoons hadn't been b&w for a looong time.
