  • actually 80 cents during the 60s equaled almost more than 8 dollars now so 99 cents was quite expensive during the 60s

  • 80 cents to a $1.40?!...now its more like $10.00 to $15.40 lol

  • if I could time travel I would bring my 100 bucks and be rich

  • OMG my mom used to watch commercials like these when she was small.

  • This commercial is so cute.

  • 80 cents!!! That's so cheap! I wish I was born in the 60's so I could buy the barbies really cheap.

  • @musicrocks426 Back then 80 cents was worth way more than it is now. Back then 80 cents was like 5 dollars.

  • 80 cents you'd pay 5.99 now

  • @kyokochan111 i know and there all pink and cheap

  • there were socks :D lmao!

  • Oh how i wish Barbie was still like this! The quality of the clothes and dolls where impeccable back then!

  • i have never seen this commercial before, it very catchy and oh so simple, but it works , the sorrority 60s have now made way forward to the terrible 2000s ,even day to night barbie would be overwhelmed by the dolls today and she was 80s consumer cutie, but where would we be without her ,i have nearly every decade now of barbie ,and i love to get dolls who are well loved and get them back to some decent style

  • I loved my barbies, but the Barbies from the 60s and 70s were so pretty.

  • If only the clothes were at the same prices now, I could buy all the outfits I wanted for them!

  • I make Barbie date a real man.....G.I Joe!!!!!!

  • On the Twilight Zone, I would have took that talky Tina and put it in the broiler and melted it, and bought Christy a Barbie and a Ken with all these clothes.

  • that little girl in this commercial seems so happy at 0:15

  • I know not alot of people will agree with me but i like the barbies alot more from the 1970's to now days im not a fan of these old school barbies i like barbies face structure now days :)

  • Just like the Polaroid Swinger commercial featuring Ali McGraw before "Love Story," this is one of the most remembered commercials. Many thanks for posting! I'm sending it all over the world!

:) "You can tell it's Mattel, it's SWELL! " (the Polaroid commerical is also in Youtube)

  • i realy like how they are kinda suporting creating your own outfit with diffrent peices of outfits and omg 80 cents eeeepppp god if i could go back int ime i woyuld buy all the 80 cent outfits lol

  • i got a old barbie suitcase made in the 60s for the barbie boy and girl it has two things for their clothes a part for their shoes and where u sit the barbies its really old tho lol the front has a barbie that looks like that xD but its a drawing its like very old and it has the date on the edge there isnt many much left in the world because basicly 95% of it is carbored and plastic but min eis in good condition and worth alot of money O.o

  • socks? those must have been lost in 2 seconds

  • they had socks!?! barbie these days doesn't have that much accessories like ties, head bands, fabric purses(not plastic), and no 'genuine barbie' tags!

  • @MultiWebkinzlover101 yeah they do lol our accesories are better

  • sonds like doris day....dosn't it?

  • my first barbie was the school house one it was my first toy i loved it and took care of it but one day i lost it at a diner never saw her again i cried till i got a new one then i forgot about the whole thing

  • what is that song? It sounds like THE GNOME MOBILE

  • I wish I could be a child when all these new Barbies were coming out! now they're more plastic than ever...

  • @ANAKOsings That's because they aren't made in the USA any more. I was alive back then. It was a very special time to be a kid.

  • Barbie - you know that 50 is the new 40! dHb

  • Happy 50th Barbie!!

  • This gets stuck in my head VERY easily. It's the mark of a brilliantly made commercial. It sticks with you LONG after you watch it. Perfect advertising, and it's not sleazy either!

  • I remember this from when I was in kindergarten--and I never owned a Barbie! Amazing what the mind remembers, whether we want to or not!

  • Ha! I showed this to my mom and she said she remembered seeing this on tv!

  • Oh so catchy, but that kid is a bit creepy.

  • 80 cents! WOW!

  • Not really! Consider: It was .05c a POUND for meat in some places at the time...and a Barbie in 1959 cost 3.00$! I have no idea what a good comparison is nowadays.

  • old fashioned commercials are so catchy, lol :D

  • Hmm... We still can get ideas from vintage clothing.

  • did ken have brown hair?

    :O

    haha i like this commercial:D

  • He was originally released with brown flocked hair; and was later made in blonde and black hair colours as well.

  • lol .80$???

  • I love that ken and his fashions are still amazing after more than 45 years old.

  • Strepitoso adoro il vintage!
